3 more people charged in Grandin baseball bat attack

A total of five arrests have been made after a teen was attacked with a baseball bat Sunday night on Grandin Road.

Jermaine Peavy, 19, of Roanoke was charged with malicious wounding earlier this week. Roanoke Police spokesman Scott Leamon said this charge means police believe Peavy was the one with the bat. A juvenile was charged with malicious wounding by a mob at the same time, Leamon said.

Three more people were charged on Thursday, Leamon said today. Khalil Marquise Taylor, 19, of Roanoke and two more juveniles all were charged with malicious wounding by a mob.

According to witnesses, the attack happened when a fight broke out between some of the youths who typically hang out on Grandin Road and another group of teens.

Leamon said Matthew Bryan Patterson II of Roanoke was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial hospital with serious injuries to the face. He has since been released, Carilion spokesman Eric Earnhart said today.

When baseball bats are outlawed, only outlaws will have baseball bats!

Hmmm. . . . One wonders. No, one does not wonder. One knows, even without photos.

Remember, not a hate crime.

“Khalil Marquise Taylor, 19, of Roanoke and two more juveniles all were charged with malicious wounding by a mob.”

I suspect that law was passed to prevent lynchings; if so, how ironic.

Quakers are even worse; that sinister fellow leering at me from the oatmeal box is unsettling...

A rather strange story. I have been in that area to watch my son run track at Patrick Henry HS. It’s not really a “bad” area like the projects.

“It doesn’t even bother me,” Patterson said.

They must have beat the kid senseless. I know if someone tried to beat me with a bat I would be pretty darned upset about it.

I've noticed over the years that victims of Amish crime are rarely ever portrayed in the Corporate as angry, bitter or desirous of justice or, God forbid, revenge. The victims and their families, usually the mother, are always conciliatory or even forgiving. Seething, angry fathers are never interviewed.

I think its outright censorship. If the Corporate Media can't cover up the crime they'll definitely inform the public how to react to the crime and that is to not to get angry about. Because if enough people get angry they might actually do something about it.

You’re right it is not a bad area. Let’s hope this is an anomaly and not some sort of creep...
