OTTAWA - Terrorists are deliberately placing people in the path of an Israeli offensive aimed at stopping rocket attacks from Gaza, says Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Harper says there is evidence that Hamas, listed by Canada as a terrorist organization, is using human shields in its attempts to stave off the Israeli offensive.
"The indiscriminate rocket attacks from Gaza on Israel are terrorist acts, for which there is no justification," Harper said in a statement issued Sunday.
"It is evident that Hamas is deliberately using human shields to further terror in the region."
Harper also called on other world leaders to rally behind Israel as it tries to prevent rockets being fired from Gaza into its territory.
Silence, he suggested, would only embolden Israel's attackers.

Glad to hear our friends to the North care about Israel..a shame we can’t get that kind of thinking here in America, a Israel hating press who doesn’t understand that Hamas puts rockets in the homes of women and children so that when they die, they can be used as martyrs for the cause and the media falls for it every time..of course they do, the US media despises Israel and roots for Hamas

It’s what they do - it’s how they fight - hide behind civilian esp. kids. Then they shout “Lookit what those evil Israeli’s do! Shoot at kids”
Since they are using human shields, the innocent blood is upon their hands and heads.
If you kill the human shields and destroy the targets any way, then the enemy will have to find other methods to resist.
And the “shields” might start rethinking their relationship to the bad guys.
Do you still get to claim "innocent bystander" status after you've welcomed known terrorists into your homes and neighborhoods?

Good that Stephen Harper — who has become the true leader of the free world due to our leadership vacuum — is speaking out repeatedly on this issue.
