Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is to return to active duty with the US Army on Monday just four weeks on from his return to the United States after spending five years in captivity with the Taliban.
According to the New York Times, Bergdahl will begin work at the Army North headquarters in San Antonio's Fort Sam Houston, the same base where he has undergone therapy and counseling to deal with his reintegration back to the West.
The soldier will also meet with Major General Kenneth R. Dahl, who is investigating the controversial and still publicly unexplained circumstances surrounding his disappearance in 2009 and imprisonment.

I said this before, in a few places, but I don’t understand why this man’s tour of duty is not finished. Doesn’t the time he spent as a prisoner of the taliban (whoever) count as time served in the military?
This just has me very confused.
If I’m in the military, and I’ve signed up for, say 3 years and after 2 years I’m captured by the enemy and I’m a POW for 2 years, but I get released by the enemy, do I still owe the military 1 year of service?
The Army can never put him in combat again. He would be fragged the first chance that came available...
