Bipartisan Duo To Introduce Border Bill
By Jake Lefferman Jul 14, 2014
After days of arguing that money is not a solution, Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, have teamed up to introduce a bill to reform current immigration law in a hope to solve the humanitarian crisis along the border.
The bottom line, the bipartisan duo stressed, is that a combination of policy and resources is required to repair the immediate problem.
The border region has been overwhelmed over the past few months by a deluge of undocumented immigrants from Central America, said Cuellar, a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security. Todays legislation strengthens current law protecting unaccompanied children and responds to the crisis while supporting the men and women of Border Patrol. The bill, the Helping Unaccompanied Minors and Alleviating National Emergency (HUMANE) Act, to be introduced Tuesday, expedites an immigration court hearing for minors to within seven days of their Department of Homeland Security screening.
Within 72 hours of that proceeding, an immigration judge would determine if the child were eligible for relief and able to continue proceedings in the U.S. If they are deemed ineligible, they would be swiftly returned to their country of origin. This differs from the current law, which could see a court hearing pushed months or years out, with minors returned to relatives or placed in foster care.

The commie ‘RATS are going to have fun adding amendments and pork to this sucker. BOHICA!
Sick. As if we need a law to restate our “pre-existing condition” law. Our border is ALREADY by law supposed to be secure. These treasonous rats!
That’s not a bipartisan duo.
Thats not a bipartisan duo.”
I agree. Why doesn’t Cornyn go ahead and change over to the Democrat party.
Cornin is a LibTard.
Lets give em 4 billion this year and 8 billion next yr....lets double down!!!...
We are headed for 1 world government....it wont last a speck in time before the world explodes...Too many nukes already...Just IMHO of course...
YEP.
Where is the assurance that they will be returned to their homelands? We reject these illegal aliens and want them sent home. We are tired of “exceptions”. . .because everyone is an exception and our government just loves to hand over the hard earned wealth of American citizens to everyone else. John Corny and Henry Cueller are no different.
From all I have seen, heard and read, their first priority is subjugating the American citizens. Until I see proof otherwise, I do not trust any of them.
These Republicans simply need to tell Obama that the border must be secured, first with a massive military presence, and the immediate building of an Israeli-style security fence.
Otherwise why in the Hell do we even have a Homeland Security dept.
Cornyn capitulates to the Rats, didn’t take that bastard long at all.
We’ve been demanding the border be secured since before 2006 when the Democrats and their GOP allies sought “reform” (amnesty). They can go to ....!
All of them will be deemed eligible. What does this solve?
First of all, a judge interviewed on Houston tv tonight says they’re swamped and there’s no way to speed up the process.
Second, if Cornyn is involved I don’t trust it.
Those who think Texas has got it all together need to realize that we have just as many stupid voters here as any other state.
You know that money Thor fire fighting that Obama inserted into the bill for the immigrants? You know how everyone thought it was strange? Well as it turns out, the current fire fighting equipment has been ruled in adequate because it doesn’t meet environmental standards, so the equipment for this fire season will not be sent.
There is an article on the WSJ with the details.
