Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said Tuesday that the city would help shelter immigrant children who have been detained after crossing the border and has begun talks with a federal agency about doing so.
"Before you get partisan, before you tell me where you are on immigrationthese are children," Garcetti said Tuesday at a forum hosted downtown by Politico magazine.
"As a father, who are we as Americans if we don't step forward first and say, these kids who are isolated, alone
let's get them someplace safe and secure," the mayor told the crowd.

Yes, children. When in doubt, play the toddler card - it’s sure to chip away on opposition to any liberal endeavor.
Yeah, especially those MS13 "children". Where's the pic of those "children"?
Garcetti says L.A. will shelter children who have crossed border...
Which begs the question: Would anybody notice?
Says the member of the political party which won't nominate you for dog catcher until you demonstrate your eagerness to kill children in the womb.
Says the pol who, during the Elian Gonzalez controversy, was undoubtedly parroting the standard Democrat line "BUT A BOY NEEDS HIS FATHER!!!!"
I would like to think that, if Cuomo puts any tattood “children” in upstate NY, he can kiss his re-election goodbye.
Get them someplace that’s safe and secure? Los Angeles? The gangs are going to have a great recruiting year.
Empty lofts in SoHo and Harlem would be perfect “temporary dormitories”. I’m sure the neighbors will be happy to demonstrate their charity. For deBlasio and Cuomo, it is an ideal solution.
What’s the news here? L.A. and CA has been sheltering, employing, feeding and housing illegal aliens for decades!
