The village of Semenivka near Sloviansk looks much destroyed after several months of battles. Particularly, multi-storey buildings suffered. Private houses appeared to be less damaged. Narrow curved streets bear almost no signs of destructions, just a lot of traces of shrapnel on the walls.

The psychiatric hospital, kindergarten, clinic and their surrounding areas area are almost completely destroyed by the shells. Terrible gaping holes can be seen in the walls of houses. Windows are smashed together with frames. Roof and floors are damaged and burned, Censor.NET reports citing Sirgis-Info.

The burned truck belonged to the customer of local furniture factory. The enterprise itself was also inflicted by the artillery shelling, since it is located in the industrial area, which was shelled from mountain Karachun. The Ukrainian army fired in response to the attacks that terrorists carried out on the Ukrainian troops' positions.

Almost everything is burned. Owners, local businessmen, have lost their businesses, which they created and developed for 20 years. According to them, the war destroyed 250 jobs.

Journalists who worked in Chechnya recall that the destruction in Grozny was quite comparable with this one. But Stalingrad comes to the mind more often. The leader of Donetsk separatists Pavel Gubarev promised Ukrainian citizens to "arrange Stalingrad" in one of his posts on Facebook.

"I must admit that Gubarev keeps his word. He promised to arrange Stalingrad, and Semenivka is very similar somewhere. This is what happens when a madman takes power," Donetsk blogger and journalist Denys Kazanskyi writes.

Sorry, I intentionally eliminated 2 photos at close of article: Ponder: First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Looks like some of the buildings have been abandoned for a long time.

Tall grass and trees growing right next to them.

I do not trust the photographer.

Yes, Detroit disaster is a result of political corruption, Politicians bleeding the car industry for increased gas milage, emission standards, unfair international trade practices (read no tariff for car imports while auots to Japan tariffs mega high, and last but not least mafia controlled Union bent on leeching off companies & working men & women.

But, Ukraine faces Putin infiltration of all government positions: federal & regional political positions, military police, etc for over 10 years.

Plus, Ukraine honored the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances giving up the world’s third largest nuclear weapons stockpile between 1994 and 1996 for agreement with “security assurances against threats or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine” with the Russian Federation, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom. China and France gave separate weaker individual assurances later.

The memorandum included as well as those of Belarus and Kazakhstan. As a result Ukraine [2][3]

I was born & raised in Detroit when kids could play safely in the streets until the street lights came on. Then, drugs moved out from the inner city under Mayor Colman Young.

That is exactly why the United States needs to address political corruption NOW at all levels. All this can happen here.
