I’ve heard that Chicago has some bizarre financial policies.
For example, they leased out city parking meters to a private firm, for a 75 year lease. The city was advanced expected revenues from the parking meters up front, while the company collects parking meter money for the next 75 years.
I also heard that Chicago spent the 75 year lump sum of parking revenue in 3 years. So they clearly need help with money management.
Weren’t two prominent Chicagoans named Ezekiel involved in producing Obamacare? I can’t even work up the sympathy to break out my tiny violin.
We tried to convey those concerns to others in this country, but were met with charges of “racism.”
So, bite it, Chicago. Couldn’t happen to a better place.
Sounds like Hillary and Bill Clinton burning through their book advances in record time.
Poetic justice gets visited upon Chicago for giving us the “community organizer”.
Cloward-Piven unleashed upon the very venue which nourished it so well over the years, as long as it was somebody else paying the bills.
Unfortunately, down state tax payers will end up covering Chicago’s short fall.
As he always does... not letting a crisis "go to waste." Though it's now a crisis on HIS watch.

Guns kill and injure a very large number people in Chicago. They could send the injured to VA hospitals. This would save many millions of dollars.
Yeah, I don’t doubt that they are doing that all over the place...
selling long term income sources for lump sums that get spent immediately is a scheme that many poor planners, and thieves, do all the time.
Slight correction - they could put the injured on the VA waiting lists instead of sending them to the hospitals directly.
Maybe Rahm can raise taxes in Chicago, and drive more of the remaining middle class and businesses out of the city???
Which would of course make his problems in the out years even worse. But, I’m sure he focused on putting a lid on this sort of financial problem until after he’s re-elected. Election is in early 2015, I believe??
This may sound odd, to raise taxes, etc. when running for re-election. But based on the voters of Chicago, many of whom don’t work or own businesses or own property, they may not care that taxes were raised. He may get re-elected even if he sticks it to the middle class homeowners and the business community.
No worries. The State can just redistribute some more.
Ezekiel Emmanuel is Rahm Emmanuel’s brother. Ezekiel was involved with Obamacare. I think Ezekiel was a high level adviser to Obama and Democrats on Obamacare.
What about his other brother, Leviticus?
I thought his name was Melchizedek?
