Liberman’s unacceptable war on Netanyahu [Israel]
The Times of Israel ^ | Tuesday, July 15, 2014 | David Horovitz

Posted on 07/17/2014 6:14:10 AM PDT by Star Traveler

If the foreign minister thinks the prime minister is doing a lousy job, he should either shut up when outvoted or quit, not publicly undermine the PM at the height of a bitter conflict with Hamas.

Israel is currently a nation at war. It has been targeted with some 1,300 rockets over the past eight days fired at its population almost everywhere in the country.

Untenably, on Tuesday, Liberman sought to score points at the expense of Israelis’ faith in their leadership. Whether his prescription for Gaza is right or wrong — does Israel really want to reconquer Gaza and retake responsibility for 1.6 million Palestinians there? How many Israelis might die in the process? How will Israel’s international legitimacy be affected? Are there better ways to de-fang Hamas, including via the quietly flourishing Israeli-Egyptian axis? — the fact is that he was not elected to run this country. If he thinks the man who was is doing a lousy job, he should quit the government, not undermine it from within. Least of all from his position at the helm of Israel’s entire diplomatic hierarchy

The foreign minister is not the only prominent Israeli government politician to be openly opposing Netanyahu. Lesser-known figures including ministers Yisrael Katz (Likud) and Uzi Landau (Yisrael Beytenu), and Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud) were also spouting criticism in the course of Tuesday, and the eminently dispensable Danon was fired later Tuesday. But Liberman is the prime minister’s former bureau chief and was his political partner going into January 2013′s elections, when their two parties ran on a joint list (a partnership Liberman abrogated last week). He is seen as someone who knows the prime minister well, and here he is telling us that Netanyahu doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is doing a fine job of protecting Israelis and their country against Hamas and their rockets, in the face of the reality of the situation and garnering world support for Israel, plus the support of Egypt, too.

But there are some GRANDSTANDING ISRAELI POLITICIANS who are like DOGS yapping and nipping at Netanyahu's heels ... like Liberman and Danon (who was fired) and others who are doing NOTHING in service to Israel. They are like Senator Reid in the USA, that you wish would just go away and disappear!

I disagree completely. Israel has the bad tendency to half-win a conflict, then calling for a truce before they win it completely. As a strategy, this *never* works, and it has been tried again and again.

Think of George H.W. Bush, with a huge American and European army rapidly conquering Iraq in Gulf War I, he suddenly decides to call for peace, leaving Saddam in charge, instead of using the momentum to finish the job. And we all knew what *this* resulted in.

But Israel is actually worse, because it has a large number of people *within its borders* who actively hate and want to destroy Israel. Yet time and again, after Israel has defeated the Arab armies, it has allow the malignancy to remain. They will NEVER, EVER, change the mind of the Paleos in their bitter hatred of Israel. And as soon as the Israelis pull out, they Paleos return to rearming and plotting again.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The Paleos started this fight, again, and now they have improved their weapons. And they will continue to improve their weapons until they can defeat Iron Dome, and hundreds, or even thousands, of Israelis WILL DIE.

So quit screwing around and being wishy-washy. The Israelis no longer can afford to have murderous enemies in its backyard, no matter HOW much they love complaining and whining about “Why does everyone hate us?”

It’s time they grew up. At least make an ultimatum to the Paleos, that the *next* time they attack Israel, ALL OF THEM will be sent out of Gaza into Egypt.

If that makes the Israelis feel so GUILTY that they get ulcers and live in torment, over having been “mean” to the Paleos, that is still BETTER than being exterminated.

“But if we fight back, then the Nazis won’t like us anymore!” It didn’t work then, and it doesn’t work now.

So Netanyahu, either sh*t or get off the pot.

There are GRANDSTANDING FREEPERS yapping like DOGS and hiding their progressive ideology. Israel is a parliamentary democracy and not a dictatorship. When members of the Knesset and the Cabinet, such as Lieberman and Bennett, disagree with the Prime Minister, they uave the ability to speak out against his policies.

Many, many Israelis are opposed to the truce that is being pished on Israel. If it weren’t for the HEROES ON THE RIGHT (two can play at rhe capital letters game) Netanyahu would have caved long ago.

I agree that L should shut up in public. Debate like Hell behind closed doors, but don’t undermine the country’s elected leader DURING a conflict. That kind of political immaturity doesn’t make L look like a leader. Oh, and I say this as someone who often believes he is cocorrect and that Bibb is getting soft.

I think you’re a “thread-chaser” and a yapping dog yourself ... LOL ...

Try posting some of your own threads and showing people what you see in the real world, instead of the small world inside your own head.

Do you own the threads you start? Your lies and mischaracterizations, and personal attacks against principled conservatives degrade the high level of analysis otherwise ubiquitous here at Free Republic.

You can run but you can’t hide...LOL.

Another description for your antics is “ambulance chaser” ... :-) ...

And that is also a good description for these others, who are like “ambulance chasers” to the patient, Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu knows how to work inside Israel, with Egypt, with the world at large, and go through the necessary moves in order to degrade and destroy the capabilities of Hamas, while also garnering world support on Israel’s behalf.

I’ve never seen world support so strong as it is in this current situation, and that’s because Israel has a great leader, such as Netanyahu.

The rest of those “yahoos” and cowboys can’t hold a candle next to Netanyahu’s great job that he’s doing.

Res ipsa loquitur. The thing speaks for itself. You blast Free Republic with articles supporting the leftist position from Ha’aretz and other sources, and then you ridicule and castigate thise principled conservatives who disagree with the leftist positions these articles espouse.

You make false and inflammatory accusations including stating as a fact that anyone who supports relocating the Arabs of Judea and Samaria who are attacking Israelis (not a position I hold personally) is equivalent to the Nazis.

You state your leftist positions and then wrote that anyone wjo disagrees publicly should “shut up” (your words) or they will ge acting in concert with the Islamofascists who are out to destroy Israel.

Using false accusations and intimidation to silence those with other opinions, and freezing on an opponent and personalizing the problem, as you have done with Danon and Lieberman, are straight out of the leftist Alinsky playbook.

There is a great deal of support behind my statement that ypu are a leftist troll.

Gazans are more scared of Hamas than the IDF
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3181469/posts

Analysis: Islamist organizations in Gaza are still negotiating over negotiations, while in Israel, defense chiefs are seeing start of unrest against Hamas.

The negotiations for a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza are complicated and are destined to be drawn out. This is mainly due to Hamas’ determination to leave the battlefield with clear achievements for its military wing, especially in the eyes of the Gaza population. These achievements should be clear enough to justify to the Palestinian street – in Judea and Samaria as well - the escalation of the fire on Israel, which resulted in Operation Protective Edge. Also, Hamas does not see Egypt as an honest broker and wants Qatar and Turkey involved in the negotiations, viewing them as without bias. In fact, what is happening now is negotiations about the negotiations, with fighting.

Meanwhile, those suffering are the people of Gazan population, among whom Hamas is hiding and fighting. Until the sixth day of the IDF operation, it appeared Gaza’s civilians supported the coalition of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, in particular their military wings, who are managing the fighting. Tuesday saw a reversal of this support.

The civilians of Gaza, including Hamas supporters, have begun to express resentment towards the militant organizations that have made their lives hell. Such expressions of dissatisfaction, both to foreign reporters and in private conversations, have become more and more common, and could well signal the beginning of unrest against Hamas.

Anyone who is one of those “faux supporters” of a Israel who urges Israel to commit WAR CRIMES when Israel denies these false accusations should SHUT UP and go crawl back into that hole where they got those genocidal ideas!

Israel ambassador to U.S. Jews: Hamas winning war of public opinion
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3181017/posts

NEW YORK — Ambassador Ron Dermer, Israel’s chief diplomatic representative in the U.S., asked some 700 American Jews on a conference call this week for their help shifting the messaging on Israel. Israel is being routinely portrayed in both conventional and social media as an angry, well-armed giant leaving many innocent victims in its wake during the current crisis with Hamas, Dermer said.

The call was organized by the Jewish Federations of North America, which this week sent federation leaders to visit targeted towns in Israel, and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. Dermer told his audience that Hamas may be winning the war over public opinion, as Israel is vilified for the civilian casualties its bombs cause in Gaza, while Hamas is not being blamed for instructing Palestinians to stay in their homes – even when they have been warned by the IDF that the locations will be bombed imminently.

“Hamas is putting its missile batteries and command centers next to schools and hospitals. That is a major war crime. While we are doing everything possible to keep civilians out of harms way, Hamas is trying to put their people into harms way. Gaza’s interior minister said people should ignore warnings and go back into their homes. We are taking action to minimize to the greatest extent possible number of civilian casualties, they are doing everything to maximize it.”

— — —

We need to make ABSOLUTELY CLEAR when we talk about and support Israel, that it is NOT engaging in a GENOCIDAL CAMPAIGN against the Palestinian civilians - but that it’s HAMAS who is.

We must be STRONGLY EMPHATIC that Israel does NOT COMMIT WAR CRIMES against Palestinian civilians and explain the ways that Israel goes about avoiding collateral damage, while strongly attacking Hamas and its missiles that are flying into Israel.

If you believe that Israel should commit war crimes and engage in a GENOCIDAL CAMPAIGN against Palestinians — then just SHUT UP! ... because you’re doing Israel no favor with your genocidal talk!

I agree with you but I think it is the “degree” of “speaking out” and their “strident tone” when the nation is actively under military attack that got Danon fired!

You can say what you think, or should be able to, but there is a point where you have to look up in the sky at 1,800 falling missiles and decide to shut up.........................”for a while”. Meaning, “give it a rest”.

I see you made the case for you being one of those “faux supporters” of Israel ... by even supporting anyone who would speak of or urge Israel to commit GENOCIDAL WAR CRIMES ... the “very thing” Israel denies vociferously - and which their ambassadors are sent all over the world to combat.

Israel can do without your help!

Danon wasn’t criticizing the use or effectiveness of the Iron Dome technology or the strategy itself. He also didn’t speak up publicly from the beginning of the operation through the geginning of thenfirst aborted cease fire.

Netanyahu, as Prime Mknister, had a right to fire him from the position. But there is significant belief in his own cabinet and his own party that Israel should step up its efforts to beat Hamas. Under Israel’s parliamentary coalition system I think it was legitimate for Danon to say what he did say at the time that he said it.

Yesterday, Star Traveler called Danon a whiner (I mean a WHINER). It is obvious from reading both what he said and what his reaction was when he was fired from the position that he was nothing of the sort.

What I object to from Star Traveler isn’t his opinions. It is the way that he twists things to intimidate those who disagree with him. Think about it: he is here om Free Republic, which I don’t think he owns, with the stated purpose of getting conservatives who disagree with him to shut up. Talk about a fundamental transformation...
