Who the Hell is teaching journalism classes in colleges these days? In what cosmos is it acceptable to use back-to-back adverbs in formal writing? "Jarringly" was used quite properly in this case as an adverb to modify the adverb "quickly".
This is clearly commonly acceptable grammar.
Now go back to elementary school.
