The air here in N. Idaho smells of woodsmoke. The sun is red. The EPA won’t allow the DOD to give military vehicles and equipment to local wildland fire crews because the engines don’t meet their ridiculous emission standards.

Will this ever end or are we doomed to live in idiocracy?

The massive amounts of smoke from the fire represent many orders of magnitude more "emissions" than the engines. EPA is full of fascist retards with no common sense.

The DOD rule that says the FPP can’t be used to transfer equipment that don’t meet emission standards has been in place for 25 years. John MaCain and Mark Udall both urged for a variance and worked on a reinterpretation of the rule. The restrictions were lifted two weeks ago.
