There no longer is an independent media in Russia. Most people there get their news from TV most of which is literally owned by the Russian government and the rest of which is government controlled. Thus, the Russian public is largely unaware that this is even an issue.

You are correct. Russia has also blocked all Ukrainian news stations. The Russian border guards also shoot any mercenaries trying to re-cross border back into border. I believe so that the truth regarding Ukraine cannot be spread.
