WASHINGTON Blaming a recent surge in young border-crossers on the president, Sen. Ted Cruz waded into the crisis Thursday with a bill to reverse a 2012 order protecting child migrants from deportation.
The staggering conditions that children are being subjected to are a direct result of the amnesty that President Obama illegally and unilaterally enacted in 2012, which caused the number of unaccompanied minors to skyrocket, Cruz said. The only way to stop the border crisis is to stop President Obamas amnesty.
Obama ordered the policy — known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA to shield immigrants brought into the country illegally as children, if they had earned good grades or served in the military.
Some critics blame the current crisis on that policy, saying it encouraged a fresh wave of illegal migration as word spread that young people could stay once they made it across the border — although the 2012 order excluded new arrivals.
Some 57,000 unaccompanied minors have been nabbed at the border since October, mostly from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
Cruzs plan drew a stern response from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
Instead of considering a thoughtful, compassionate solution to a real-life crisis, radical Republicans would rather hold these kids ransom, he said on the Senate floor.
Obamas order halted deportation of so-called Dreamers young immigrants who would have been protected from deportation by the Dream Act, which Republicans blocked.
Were not going to do this unless we deport all these children who came here before, Reid said of the Cruz approach.
Cruz wants to link Obamas $3.7 billion funding request to the deferred action order. Other Republicans say theyll block funding for a border response without changes to a 2008 law that lets Central American children remain in the country for years pending resolution of their immigration

God bless this man and pray he is our next president or it’s over for this country.
They are not “immigrants”. Immigrants do not break a country’s laws by entering the country illegally and demanding freebies. These people are home invaders. Conducting a home invasion is still illegal. Even in Barry’s fundamentally transformed America.
So somebody is actually addressing the law instead of running around screaming. Excellent. Smart move. About time.
The title of the thread is misleading
Republicans need to get busy of accusing dems and BO that they support child rapes, sex trafficking and the death of children with their open boarders policies. It obviously has encouraged these dangerous journeys.
We knew about the rapes with clunton.
God bless Ted Cruz!

Typical response from the stupid Republicans. The law does not say that. It is an anti trafficking law. These people were not trafficked, they are coming voluntarily. A change in the law will make no difference if the law is being used as an excuse for the Democrats to do what they want.
