My children rode in the front seat with me and did just fine. We have all these nanny rules now which require a child to be in the backseat. Of course we didn’t have airbags back then either or seat belts or a whole lot of other government mandated stuff. Easier to attend to children’s needs when they are close and absent minded parents are less likely to forget they have them, particularly when a child is asleep.

Good points all. I call these “death by government”.

And turning the car seat backwards? That’s gotta be the stupidest idea ever.

oh yeah, and do you know this one - put the baby to sleep on it’s back, with no covers nothing. They have these crazy little sleeping sacks you’re supposed to put them in.

Who could sleep like that? Not me. So, then you are taking the baby in the bed with you, which is much more dangerous. Or you’re not getting any sleep, which is also not safe.

Supposedly to prevent crib death which happens almost never.

And, in any event, this will only work until the baby learns to roll over. I can see no blanket, but I wonder about people who live in really cold places. Like Canada, etc.
