5 Things To Remember Before You Say, 'Screw It, I'm Done With America'
Townhall.com ^ | July 20, 2014 | Doug Giles

Posted on 07/20/2014 5:43:36 AM PDT by Kaslin

Have you ever looked at all the schlock we’re currently mired in thanks to BHO’s “fundamental transformation” of America and thought, or actually said, “Screw it. I’m done. I officially don’t give a crap anymore.” I have. And I prize myself as being somewhat of a scrappy-faith-filled dude. I hate to admit it, but sometimes I get sick and tired of being sick and tired.

As a 51-year-old, I remember the good old days when we had at least quasi-legit leaders who gave a nominal flip about the continuation and betterment of this grand experiment called America. I recall how their affinity for our sacred principles afforded us a pretty good life, in relative peace, where we could pursue happiness while being left the heck alone. But now, with our current crapmeisters at the helm … eh, not so much as each side of the aisle seems pretty determined to destroy us, to the lining of their own pockets and power.

After I have these little pouting sessions of pathetic wussiness, I realize two things: 1). I’m being a hamster; and 2). Historically, that’s pretty much the crumble of the cookie, in that things usually turned repugnant before they turned around. Indeed, in the very formation of our blessed union we tend to forget King George’s oppressive hell spawned a defiant and free rebel nation; and that didn’t happen with ease or overnight.

For example, take the biblical narrative of the rise of King David and the renewal Israel had under his governance. I love bringing the Bible into this because the left so hates the Scripture. Please note that, before Israel’s heyday via David, they had hell to pay because of the damage done by lousy leaders.

Here’s a brief breakdown of what preceded that epic, Davidic transformation of morphing from being the Philistine’s redheaded step-child to being a free people under God:

1. Things got bad … real bad. Saul’s corrupt leadership, that was spawned by Israel’s decadent desires, effectively drove their country into the gutter and allowed their enemies an upper/oppressive hand. Sound familiar? And it got bad, folks. I’m talking real bad, as Israel became a cartoon of what she was originally intended to be. In this dilapidated state of Philistinian dominance, including Israel’s corruption and cowardice, arose a new leader named David. What appeared to be “the end” for Israel was actually only the beginning of a new day. Chew on that for a while.

2. New leaders emerged. For ancient Israel to extricate themselves from the slough of despond they were in, it demanded that new, principled leaders replace the sucky ones. Everything rises and falls on leadership. If things truly blow then it’s time to blow out the bosses. Oh, and by the way, transformational leadership will not be what you’re used to. David came out of left field. No one expected him to be chosen. No one thought he could fell the foul toad called Goliath, and those who did want to give him a shot tried to arm him with all the crap they had that didn’t work. The leaders we need will not be who we’d expect or pick. They will be unorthodox.

3. Motives for leading changed. David wasn’t trying to be a king. He didn’t have as a five-year plan that one day fair maidens would sing his praises and feed him grapes. He wasn’t trying to be a conservative star. He wasn’t trying to make a career out of this event. David’s motives were God and country. He wasn’t attempting to be the next Big Shiznah or the most popular slingshot artist in Israel. He just wanted to slay giants and save a nation.

4. Enemies were called out. David’s rise to power when Israel was nothing but a craven quail entailed the verbal scathing of the enemies of Israel. Check out how he vocally dealt with Goliath’s threats prior to his taking care of business. David wasn’t sweet or politically correct about what he thought about those who were Israel’s oppressive enemies.

5. Supernatural strength was fetched. David built himself up in God. If some dork thinks he’s going to change America because he’s fit and glib or she’s got freshly dyed blonde hair and new, fake boobs, they’re gonna get their butt handed to them by demonic forces that currently rule this roost. Youth and zeal are no match for age and treachery unless God be on your side. Yep, the new leaders who were the agents of godly change sought God for supernatural wisdom and strength; and they prayed in no uncertain way that God would waylay the enemies of truth, righteousness and justice.

So, little kiddies … we need to cheer up. You and I can’t curl up in the fetal position and wet our big diaper since things seem bad right now, because that’s exactly what the enemies of our nation would like us to do, namely … check out. Give up. Lose heart. Instead, we must realize the historical pattern of things usually gets real frickin’ bad before it gets better.

Thank you BuffaloJack for your words and your service. To give up on America is to give up on the ideals she was founded upon - that “all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. . .”.

And, another thing - those who say that America has sinned beyond the point of forgiveness or repentance, I understand that despair. I too, see the moral decadence we have descended to with abortion, materialism, tolerance for depravity (homosexuality), ingratitude, violence, godless arrogance, etc. It’s true that our nation surely deserves judgement from God, and I would say we already are experiencing some of that now.

From a sane and moral person’s viewpoint, it looks pretty grim and hopeless. But, remember that despair, cynicism, glee over judgement, are NOT Godly attributes. Hopelessness isn’t either. As long as there is God and people who believe, trust, and seek to follow His Word - there IS hope.

I think of what many a soldier felt like at the winter of 1777 at Valley Forge - No food, no equipment, no pay, no shoes, freezing weather, no victories to celebrate - Washington was begging the Continental Congress for food and supplies and more men. He wrote that his army was melting far faster than the snow. From a “realist’s” point of view, it looked hopeless. In September of 1814, our most formidable enemy, Britain, had defeated our outnumbered, outgunned, ragtag “army” and captured our capital city, burning much of it to the ground. Our president and his wife had to flee the city or be captured by the enemy - that had to look pretty bad to the average citizen as well.

I could list other dark times - when our nation split in two and we were killing each other by the tens of thousands, when the decadence of the 1920’s was followed by the horrific depression and many Americans literally starved to death, on the beaches of Normandy the first few days after D-Day, our men laid among the thousands of dead comrades in arms - all those were times of terrible uncertainty as to the future of the country.

After September 11th, we watched firemen, police, rescue personnel of all types, construction workers, all desperately working together to try to save as many people as they could from under the burning rubble of the Twin Towers - rescue crews volunteered from across the nation to pay their own way to go to New York to help with the rescue efforts, and when they got there, they had difficulty getting the original fire crews and rescue personnel to stop and let them take over to give them a break, but many wouldn’t and kept going until they dropped from exhaustion because their buddies were still buried under all that debris - when Americans across the nation gave food, supplies, money, anything they could do to help.

It hit me then that America was not yet finished. Yes, a lot of crap has followed since then, but I learned that day that we never know the hearts of all our fellow countrymen, we do not know what all God is doing behind the scenes, we do not know the end result of everything. All we can do is continue to do the right thing, to trust and hope in God and in His mercy, to do our best at our jobs, to tell the truth, to refuse to grow cold, bitter, and callused. But most of all, to refuse to fall into despair. So, I am going to keep praying, voting, talking with friends and family to change their minds, to argue for the right, defend it, try to live it, raise my grandchildren with Godly values.

The nation may fall. God may judge us according to our sins, we deserve it no doubt, but we have never deserved the blessings God has poured out on us. We have never “earned” His mercy. So, I must trust in His goodness and mercy and hope in Him - trust Him that He can can still work miracles - even with our beaten and battered nation.

Do you honestly believe that the millions of Dreamers® that are flooding to America are going to stand up to future injustice?

No I do not. You are making a mistake if you think my opposition to your Darwinistic and utterly materialistic racialism indicates any support for the current invasion of our country. I am a religious fundamentalist--period. And ultimately (stress on "ultimately") there is only one human race under One G-d--not a multitude of irrelated races each under its own "gxd." That is what you are implying.

Just keep hanging on to that as you disappear. At least your last words as the DHS stomps you to death can be that you were a good person. I say again- genes matter. We breed animals for their genetic traits, and talk about inheritance of intelligence, but not among humans- no, with us it’s different. We are the last threat. With the US taken out, hell will reign.

So you are a materialistic eugenicist who advocates breeding people like they are animals. Thank you for admitting that. Are you one of those people who believe that Adam and Eve were the ancestors of only Europeans and that non-Europeans are the descendants of someone else? I am no fan of the politics of non-whites (in fact, I believe they will be punished severely for their rebellion against G-d), but I don't believe they are merely highly evolved talking animals who can't help themselves (though in the past G-d has decreed the extermination of various nations when they were beyond redemption).

Do you also believe the British royal house is descended from King David?

I recommend that you look at EthanCliveOsgoode's home page for the connection between Darwinism and the eugenics you advocate. Ethan . . . take this guy to school!

You’re correct. And believing in Bible prophecy, I believe the is no turning back now. Only those who are Christians now have the Blessed Hope.

God uses physical means to do battle as well as spiritual ones. I believe in all manner of things and among them, yes, I believe in the power of the human genome, written by God Himself. Terrifying coding. A masterpiece of ingenuity. You discount them. God doesn’t use magic. Do you know how Paul was able to shake the venomous snake from his hand and keep going? Genes. God designed Paul before the womb to be immune to that bite. He made satan out to be a fool. But genes mean nothing to you? There is no difference between the Mexicans and the White Americans? You can go to school by living with them in Los Angeles. Get back to me in a few years. I will accept your apology in advance. You’re welcome my friend.

2Kings 17 NIV

18 So the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah was left, 19 and even Judah did not keep the commands of the Lord their God. They followed the practices Israel had introduced. 20 Therefore the Lord rejected all the people of Israel; he afflicted them and gave them into the hands of plunderers, until he thrust them from his presence.

21 When he tore Israel away from the house of David, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat their king. Jeroboam enticed Israel away from following the Lord and caused them to commit a great sin. 22 The Israelites persisted in all the sins of Jeroboam and did not turn away from them 23 until the Lord removed them from his presence, as he had warned through all his servants the prophets. So the people of Israel were taken from their homeland into exile in Assyria, and they are still there.

Israel consists of 10 tribes at this point in time. Israel has King Jeroboam of the tribe of Ephraim. Judah is the tribes of Benjamin, Judah and Levi. The "lost ten tribes" exist somewhere, and they are Israel. Judah, Benjamin and Levi are indeed descendants of Jacob, and therefore Israelites. But the Bible calls them Judah.

Yes, God doesn’t care about the US, or Russia, or this place or that place. That’s why He describes them as “beasts.”. It is the people in those places He concerns Himself with.

I’ve never seen a sermon quite so loaded with condescension...

It’s not a warm and fuzzy, feel good kind of *sermon*.

Maybe we need more of this, and less whining, pining or pablum.

David was the product of a world wherein there were only kings and subjects. America was, and still is. the only nation predicated upon the premise that the individual is the legitimate source of power, not the king.

Only in America did power flow from the bottom to the top, and only in America is that power delegated by the citizens to their chosen employees, and subject to good behavior on the part of such employees.

That was then.

Now, we have over half of the populace on some sort of government “Payment To The People” program. Remember the ObamaPhone ‘Trough Feeder’ Female?

That thing was short, squat, ugly to the core of her greedy mind, and as short sighted as she was short/squat.

The ObamaPhone Lady was why the Founders did not institute ‘universal suffrage’. They knew that given a chance, the idle, greedy swine would devour the efforts of the productive.

America is floundering aimlessly, anesthetized by electronic Bread & Circuses, existing in borrowed money, and slouching towards destruction because we abandoned the core AMerican premises.

LEADER! We can't stand another LEADER! ! !

The American system allows us to choose who holds office, so we got what we voted into office.

The products of 3+ generations of commies in agencies and the schools produced a degraded populace willing to vote Obama into office TWICE!

Bah! Humbuggery!

Yea, Bammy is queer and you all knew it when you voted for him. Unless, and until, the American populace decides to become responsible for their own lives, the decline of America will continue. Longing for a King David is what got us into the debacle we now face. Forget "Man Up" and try "Individual Up/Mature Up".

Got ObamaPhone?

Lots of Old Covenant examples - makes it sound good but ignores the fact that God will let us devolve into a cesspool before Jesus comes back. "Good will be called evil, and evil good"

If we were going to be able to turn the whole slime ball around, there might not be need for Him to return to set things right.

LEADER! A "LEADER" is another, post-structuralist term for a modern day king. Centralized decision making by a king is, and must always be, less effective than decentralized decision making by an informed electorate. We can't stand another LEADER! ! !

I’ve pretty much given up caring anymore, just like Dennis Miller said about himself the other night on O’Reilly, as well as is the case with many of my friends. We’ve all decided it’s time to look after ourselves, because our country is on an unstoppable path of self-destruction. In effect, we’ve all gone Galt in one fashion or another, and giving up like this is a significant indication that Obama’s plan to destroy our country has worked.

It’s clear that the vast majority of our citizenry are ignorant fools and allowing everyone to vote just because they can breath is complete insanity: only stakeholders should be allowed to vote.

At any rate, our clueless citizenry will continue to vote for leftists (be it GOP leftists or Democrat communists) until our country implodes, most likely occurring when unchecked money-printing finally renders our currency worthless.

When I first saw the headline, I expected some “c’mon, we can win this fight” nonsense. That is not what this is. I completely agree with the author but we may go in different directions.

i.e. I agree with the sentiment that it will get REALLY bad, but I believe what will pull us out of this one is not an earthly David but, rather, the return of the Lord. And we will lose, spectacularly, until that day.

I believe this is the big one.

The truth is, America is under judgement. You are not going to turn that around without the nation turning back to God, and that is NOT happening.....if anything our day to day rebellion to Him gets worse with each passing day. Look to Christ - it is the only way.

I read the whole article. He agrees with you. My take is he sees us as in the days of Saul at the current time. Where he and I disagree is that I see this one as unresolvable, and will end with the return of Christ. Ezekiel 38/39 is right around the corner. Frighteningly so, if you are no His.

Please read my post #16.

I don’t see any evidence that **Christians** are repenting. If Christians stubbornly refuse to repent, why should we expect the non-Christians.

God gave us agency. With agency come natural consequences.

“it is the things we can’t talk about. After WWII you can’t mention genes. Genes matter more than anything else. Genes determine life.

You don’t believe in G-d, do you? Or Adam and Eve, for that matter?

You sound like a Darwinian biological determinist. Perhaps you’d like to bring back Darwinian eugenics?”

Uhhh - - - perhaps dropping your morning coffee by the cup in favor of liters of espresso by IV wasn’t a good idea?

To expect G*d to intervene is to reduce the Divine to Cosmic Cleanup. We have DNA and knowledge - the rest is what we choose to do.

However, to assume one can be whatever one wants is solipsist - a common error of the young and self absorbed. One’s DNA does impose limits on all aspects of one life, I am sorry to have to inform you.

A shame, that - I would like to have been able to walk on water, given the extortionate price of fuel at the marina. But, as PopEye wudda said, “We be what we be”.

And what we be is largely a function of our DNA. Which is not to allow or justify destructive behavior - “I hates cracker!” is no excuse for playing “Knockout Game”. The demise of the late, unlamented St. Martin of the Purple Drank is proof of concept.

Interestingly, DNA can be modified, leaving vastly expanded realms for the expression of “Free Will”. However, I do wonder about being able to control ones genes being the de facto control of ones evolution. By extension, we are aabout to be able to direct our own heridity.

Scary, given we can’t even agree on whether the traditional fat hog or the new lean, low fat, low density lipoprotein content, hog is to be the hog of the future.

‘Tis tough playin’ G*d, it seems.

Though I agree, It’s not Obama’s plan any more than it is the current quarterback’s plan for his team to go to and win the Superbowl. Obama is a pawn, in a long line of pawns. He’s just the right quarterback at the right time for the enemy.

And as a 45 year resident of the Seattle area, working as an IT BA for T-Mobile in Factoria, two weeks before the 2008 election I purchased a 12 acre farm in central KY (with a new house) and moved there in 2011. I’ve purchased my neighbor’s land, huge barn and well and now have a contiguous 33 acres encompassing 2.5 plateau fingers, two valleys between them, each with its own stream, unlimited lumber - and as I type this I’m looking down from upstairs on cattle, chickens and and a good sized garden from my upstairs office.

Though I still have a good paying IT job, it’s pretty clear where all this is headed (see my tag line). I’m preparing for where, more and more obvious everyday, all this is headed. The world is at one of those precipices. It will not go well for those in the cities.

I actually agree with you but also agree with the author’s assessment of where we are. It appears that unlike the author you and I know how bad it got for Israel from time to time. The Davidic example only goes so far. One may want to look at Israel’s time in Egypt and the time afterward.

One can see the current situation as either just another bad time where we find our way out, or a time where the Lord returns. I think we’re coming up on Ezekiel, Revelation, Matthew, etc. I.E. I think the time is near. We need to recognize the time of the season.
