Went to a Verizon store yesterday. Instead of a greeter, there was an iPad. If you wanted help, you had to sign in and give the requested information.

It worked great, and they don’t have to pay the iPad 15 bucks an hour.

Look if you make the price point 15 an hour for a cashier then all i have to do is make a peice of hardware software that meets beat the same price point and ive got a new product to sell.

OH WAIT IT ALL READY HAPPEN!

You all seen those scan yourself check out at the supermarket?..well they didn't even have to raise minimum wage you have those checker replaced.

You know the more I think about this I'm starting to get very cynical about it

because there does seem to be a high correlation between people pushing for minimum wage being raised and the people that make their living in high-tech replacement for low tech workers (PS will Freerepublic PLEASE put in post edit like ever other board on the internet so you can edit typos you missed after you posted?)

I own a business and I have a choice between paying a citizen $15 or an illegal $5 an hour, guess what I’m going to do.

But the illegals will soon get amnesty and demand the same rights as citizens, meaning they will want $15/hr too.

The liberal solution would be to import more illegal immigrants who are willing to work for $5/hr. The previously illegal immigrants, who now have rights and documents but few work or language skills, will be unemployable and go on the dole.

And the fence never gets built.

That tablet in the billboard is true. I had a co-worker go work at a startup in San Francisco last year that provides tablets as registers and other restaurants that have a tablet display that customers just touch for their orders. The restaurants will not need to hire as many in the near future but instead will be firing more people plus those people will not get any tips. I have seen tablets used at Sears for sales.

He is a uber liberal and wanted to move to San Francisco and live in the city. He has to share an apartment with 2 others as they pay $2,400 a month and he takes a bus to work which takes him 30 mins to get there vs 10 mins by car. The startup is giving each employee gym membership and a mac laptop and ipad and iphone. They are burning thru the investors cash. In other words using other peoples money to then spend on their stuff. When it runs out, the owners will no doubt try to get more investors to spend money on them in other ventures. Kinda a mini liberal gov’t.

And if so, how much?

Instead, they drone about statistics from black and white text

No kidding, huh? They have to have marketing consultants. Maybe they need a new advertising agency.

@PaigeLamb @rbottoms And how in f*** are you footing the bill? Do you own McDonald’s? What business is it of yours if they have to pay a decent wage to workers? If you object to it, don’t frigging eat there.

Doesn’t get it, that the customer IS the one ‘footing the bills’.

He also doesn’t understand that, even though he recommends it, that people (including himself) WON’T eat there, because they won’t be able to afford it; the place closes and those jobs; or tech replaces the workers, and the jobs are still lost.

He’s a great example of liberalism being a mental disorder.

There’s no point in having any minimum wage debate (other than stopping this BS based on lies) without ceasing the problem that created the wage gap in the first place: Government-based hyperbolic GDP & low-inflation statistics and defective fiscal policies that don’t even use accepted accounting methods.

The reason for the minimum wage hike push is simple:

Federal, state and local governments refuse to do anything about the bloated wages and pensions that they gave to their .gov unions over the last 20-30 years.

The rest of the private sector peasantry have had to live with no wage hikes for the last decade or so, due to deflationary pressures. Not so for the .gov buccaneers.

Now, the wage gap is becoming noticeable, and the government pirates need to hide it with a minimum wage hike, otherwise the private sector peasants will notice that they're working for $12 bucks an hour while Joe .Gov Retiree is living large on $25 bucks an hour with full medical on YOU, after he retires at 53 years old.
