At a military funeral this weekend in West Palm Beach, Florida, a couple of possibly retired Marines confronted a man dressed in a U.S. Army dress uniform. At first the conversation, posted on the Facebook page U.S Army W.T.F! moments, is cordial, then the Marines started to get suspicious of the alleged “sergeant major.”

During the conversation, the Marines catch him in one too many lies about everything from violating uniform code to wearing the wrong ribbons and medals. The man also called himself a sergeant major, a military policeman, and a special forces operator.

He also claims to have won a Bronze Star with a “V” for valor for saving one of his men from killing himself. Well according to Rare, it got a little heated:

This fraud is also displaying a U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Badge. I think a few thousand Drill Sergeants would have something to say to this scumbag. He is also wearing Officer rank Infantry crossed rifles on enlisted man uniform.

I’d pay to watch his face if a SEAL team had confronted him.

PING to TM.

This guy is pathetic. And there are many more like him out there. Bless those wonderful young heroes who called him out. They were so respectful and patient, all the while knowing that this man was dishonoring the real heroes of this country.

These young men are the strength of our country. God bless them. Without their dedication and sacrifice we would not have our country. Not so for this clown who seems to be a wannabe without the sacrifice.

We have had a few similar to this in fake looking camo who have stood outside of our local grocery stores a few times over the years, complete with fake fliers and their cause. People were dropping dollars and twenties into their bowls not even questioning them.

Hubby asked questions and immediately knew they were fakes, and then quietly went ballistic, went into the manager of the store and called them out. But there was nothing the manager could do at the moment as they had reserved the spot and there was no immediate way to prove them to be authentic or not. My husband fumed about it for days. It is stolen valor and it steals money from authentic groups.

Also, there are phone calls from suspicious veteran groups on occasion ....as well as police groups. Beware. They are almost always scams. I always ask them to mail me the info and then I will decide if I will donate. They usually are not keen on doing that “to save on postage.” I try to immediately write down the fake name they are calling themselves for future reference and research.

“If you were a Sergent Major, you wouldn’t be backing down!”

If you were an army Sergeant Major, Marines wouldn't confront you, because you would be squared away. The Marine would have politely said, “Good afternoon, morning or whatever, Sergeant Major and he would have courteously replied to the Marine.

Myself, I would never be an Army Sergent Major.
I’m just a little, old third class Boatswain’s Mate on an old grey lady amphib carrier named, “Peleliu.”.
But, I was damn good at it.

;-)

I was a Buck Sergeant in the Engineers. No Sergeant Major for me either.

From your pix with the hair and the beard I thought you were active duty air force. ;-)
