A proposed gun shop/shooting range that has generated controversy because of its location near several neighborhood schools will be coming to Niles.
The Niles Village Board of Trustees voted 4-1 on Tuesday to approve a special use permit to allow firearms sales, firearms safety training and an indoor firing range at the proposed location, at 6143 Howard St.
About 200 supporters and critics of the plan packed the Village of Niles Municipal Building to make their voices heard on the gun shop, to be called Sportsmans Club and Firearms Training Academy.
Dozens wore green shirts and ribbons to honor victims of school gun violence, while others wore stickers like Gun Control is NOT Kosher.

I’m still not moving back there...
Store should sponsor a shooting club and offer discounts to teachers
Instant shooting range
Here in Cincinnati, I’ve seen several places where there’s a day care with a gun store right next door. Matter of fact, looks like they have the same owner.
Like to see some nutcase walk in THAT daycare & start shooting the place up. He’d be picking lead out of his a$$ in no time.
Gun shop near a school - good.
Mosque near a school - bad.
Easy, isn’t it?
Nobody is going to sell a gun to a school kid.
Nor are they going to be fired off the range.
A complete phony non-issue.
The absolute distortion of the truth was the fake argument concerning the proximity of the proposed gun store and range to the schools. The site is an industrial area filled with small factories and warehouses. It is separated from the schools by a considerable distance, plus the area is further divided by a series of railroad tracks. It is not easily accessible without a car and no students are going to be passing by while on their way to classes.
The anti-gun crowd really twisted the facts about the location of the proposed range and gun store.
They’re fetishists... they ascribe a supernatural power to guns, because they think that guns just being nearby will cause harm to befall them.
