U.N. Official Cites ‘Strong Possibility’ of War Crimes in Gaza Conflict
New York Times ^ | JULY 23, 2014 | NICK CUMMING-BRUCE

Geneva-The United Nations’ top human rights official, Navi Pillay, said Wednesday that there was a “strong possibility” that Israel and Hamas have committed war crimes with indiscriminate attacks on civilians during more than two weeks of fighting with militants in Gaza.

Opening a special session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Ms. Pillay called for an investigation and accountability to end the cycle of violence.

Ms. Pillay cited Israeli airstrikes on civilian homes in Gaza and the shelling of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital two days ago, which killed four people, as examples of actions that suggest “a strong possibility that international humanitarian law has been violated in a manner that could amount to war crimes.”

Of course the UN sees nothing wrong with launching missiles into cities.

Pray America wakes up

Brought to you by the organization that hides missiles in children’s school rooms. Maybe they should be putting themselves on trial.

The aggressors *always* set the tone for a battle.Anything that the Israelis might have done was in direct response to an enemy that's spelled out...in writing...that their basic objective is to wipe Israel off the map.

Israel is far from indiscriminate.

the very nature of Islam is a crime against humanity .
It needs to be completely excised from the fabric of humanity . Only then will this world know peace . If the rest of humanity cannot find it in itself to remove Islam from our world , we will never know peace . It’s our choice , and it’s time to act .

Dear UN and NYT,

“indiscriminate attacks on civilians” have ONLY been perpitrated by Hamas.

ALL Israeli efforts have been VERY “discrimitating”, with every attempt to minimize risk to civilians.

The extent of civilian casualties among civilians in Gaza is due to the STANDARD PRACTICE of Hamas to hide behind civilians AND prohibiting or discouraging civilians from leaving area where Israel has WARNED them of a pending strike!

I think you win the prize, but that was easy.

The "cycle of violence" is those damn Jews giveaway.

Who knew? I didn’t know Hamas was wearing uniforms these days and firing their rockets from military bases!

Too bad George McGovern and Jimmy Stewart aren’t alive to face these war crime tribunals.

Hamas may have accidently fired missiles towards Israel, BUT

“Jews are deliberately slaughtering crippled LBGT Palestinian children by the thousands in Gaza! Hot off the presses! Get your New York Times here, folks! Jews are deliberately slaughtering crippled LBGT Palestinian children by the thousands in Gaza! Netanyahu suddenly gains a lot of weight from eating the flesh of Palestinian babies! Says they taste like chicken!”

Also - what does she mean by ‘civilians’?

The only time Hamas killers even seem to wear uniforms is when they’re impersonating the IDF. That is a war crime - is she going to investigate it?

At this point, I highly doubt that the Israelis really care about what the world, or the UN for that matter, think of them.

Survival and self-preservation trump petty, biased, and frivolous opinions of your enemies.

To any Israelis who may read this: do what you need to do to protect yourselves, and do not stop until you have achieved that goal.

But not a peep about all the innocent civilians the Ukrainian government has killed.

There was an episode of Star Trek where two societies were are war with each other. Rather than use real bullets and bombs they fought on a computer and the computer determine which side won a battle and THE COMPUTER DECIDED WHO WAS KILLED DURING THE BATTLE. Those named had to report to a center where they would be killed!

Kirk was appalled by this and destroyed the computer forcing the two sides to either make peace or go back to fighting a real war until one side defeated the other.

Since the end of WWII the world has been “playing” at war. No one really wins so the wars go on.

Perhaps it is time we go back to unrestricted warfare and allowed the strongest (or the most determined) side win?

Faced with total destruction perhaps those that are engaging in these terrorist wars might reconsider their actions.

The real political crime against humanity is the U.N. Human Rights Commission, a falsely named global political organ led by the undemocratic international political forces that shape its agenda and keep it working as the feckless steward of human rights that it is.

“...indiscriminate attacks on civilians...”

Hmmm. How do they feel about the 8th air force over Berlin in 1944?
