Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Wednesday slammed IRS Commissioner John Koskinen for failing to help answer questions about Congresss investigation into the IRS targeting scandal, and instead arguing that he cant do anything while the Inspector Generals investigation into the IRS is ongoing.
Koskinen appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, where he said several times that he was unable to help answer some of Congresss questions because of the IG investigation. But Gowdy said there are no rules prohibiting Koskinen from helping more.
I find this confounding, Gowdy said. I find it vexing, that once the IG is involved, nobody else can do anything. That is not supported by the law.
Koskinen said its his personal view that he should not interfere with the IG once it starts an investigation. Our policy is that if the IG starts an investigation, the agency will not themselves run a competing investigation to try to get there first, he said.
Gowdy offered an alternative theory, that officials cite IG investigations as a barrier to helping when it suits them.
You can certainly understand how a cynic might view it that way, right, because theres nothing about an ongoing IG investigation that would keep you from doing your job, he said. Just like theres nothing about an ongoing IG investigation that keeps the Department of Justice from a criminal investigation, or a committee of Congress from a congressional investigation.

Hillary makes it to the top----almost.
Next time the IRS wants to audit me or my books, I think I will have my wife throw some lame accusation at me, so that my local property owners association has to start looking into my long grass or my over-use of the boat dock ramp.
Then, when the IRS comes calling, I am going to say, “Sorry, I can’t help you right now. I am under another investigation and I can’t do ANYTHING until that investigation is complete!”
That’s really a great clip.
There is an extended version floating about which shows about 1 second later the flight attendant or aid shutting off the lights to prevent at least the images of her getting off the floor.
God Bless Trey Gowdy and those of his ilk!!! The ilk of the quislings can all go to hell...
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I agree, but I still enjoyed it.
Hey, Hillary, pick up your damn feet!
Living proof that Weeble’s really do not wobble...
Trey Gowdy showed just what a mealy mouthed weasel Koskinen is right there.
Koskinen has genuine contempt for the American people, it just seeps out of his pores...he is basically telling each American citizen to go to hell, that the IRS is more important and not answerable to the people...tar and feathers would have been his fate in a bygone era....
I love Trey Gowdy. :-)
Here’s my comment from another thread. It doesn’t add anything here, but I’m just amused overtime I see the guy’s name,,,,,,
“Im sorry! I cant help it! Everytime I see the guys name, Im reminded of the interview in which the interviewee kept referring to him as Mr. Kokskin!”
put lerner and the commissioner in prison, they will give up the WH
i pray for the day he gets to interrogate Hillary.
The judge let him go.
You know Gowdy is good when he starts in on Kossack and his demeanor changes instantly from “yeah, whatever” to “oh shit”.
Kossack is deathly afraid of someone of Trey Gowdy’s skill as an attorney.
That must have been caused by her dodging sniper fire.
