Hamas may be alienating other Arabs, but it’s making new friends in the West
Washington Post ^ | July 24 , 2014 | Dore Gold

Posted on 07/24/2014 11:17:07 AM PDT by SJackson

Ambassador Dore Gold served as Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in 1997-1999. Today he is an adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and president of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.

Hamas has seen a strange turnabout in its international status, and this reversal is truer than ever since it launched its rocket war against Israel three weeks ago. In recent years, the Gaza-based Palestinian terror group and its parent organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, have seen their fortunes in the Middle East rise and then fall precipitously. Today, while Hamas is being shunned by its traditional Arab backers, many Western countries and especially their foreign policy elites have begun talking more seriously about the benefits of reducing the isolation to which the group has been subjected by Europe and the United States.

Almost all of the Arab states, save Qatar, have made strong moves to curtail Hamas’s funding, influence and power. Saudi Arabia, which once bankrolled more than 50 percent of the Hamas budget, has largely cut off the organization. In March, the Saudi Interior Ministry declared the entire Muslim Brotherhood network to be a terrorist organization, a move which complicated Hamas’s position even further. After Hamas sided with Jabhat al-Nusra, the Sunni al-Qaeda affiliate that is attempting to topple the Assad regime, Hamas was thrown out of Syria, one of its most important strategic partners for decades. True, Hamas still has Iran, but their military connection has only alienated the Arab world further.

Easy for liberals in the west. Advocating the slaughter of the worlds Jews costs them little. Not even the contempt of their social circles. Particularly in academia and government. Which more and more are becoming the same thing. Some Arabs are obviously adding up the costs, a bill they pay

The headline writer is taking quite a different tack on what is happening. (Hitler alienates the world but makes new friends in Hades.)

This pathetic article is the thinnest dose of gruel I've read, outside of obammy administration drivel.

The only strange turnabout in its international status cited is some junk which is 5 years old.

“Thus any diplomatic resolution to the war must demilitarize the Gaza Strip so that Hamas cannot carry out rocket attacks on Israel.”

That can only happen if Hamas is removed from power.

That will probably require 10,000 - 50,000 killed or imprisoned, and/or a thorough rollup of the leadership before they escape.

HAMAS already has its Manchurian Candidate. They have had him for a long time.

Well, the US State Department ordered UNRWA to return rockets found in a UN sponsored school to "the local police," i.e. Hamas.

It's really hard to believe that anyone could possibly be so incompetent, and it requires a willing suspension of disbelief. It really has to be that the US Dept of State actually supports the terrorist attacks on Israel.

Then again, I've said for many years that one of the most virulent anti-American organizations on the planet is the US Department of State.

The one thing that sticks out in my mind is the quote from our wonderful president. “....I will stand with the muslims.”. The right or anyone who wants to beat the RATS should find that and reply it as a campaign spot.

Keep in mind, the muzzies aren’t going to spare the bonehead infidels when they get their chance to subjugate them.

An infidel is an infidel. Submit or die. They won’t care what support that the infidel gave them. They will not be spared. yeh, that goes for atheists too. A person who is one is also an infidel.

Its funny how the left loves Hamas and other terrorist organization who want to commit a global Hitler on Jews..considering that Muslims despise gays, you would think that would piss the left off..after all, leftists love fruitcakes..yet not a peep when a Muslim says that gays must die

I am getting close to just giving up. Even FOX only reports from the Palestinian side. Israel is in big trouble and they have little support.

We just cannot get involved in Ukraine. Why bother? Our country is invaded and nothing and nobody is going to stop it.

Chaos, and that is just what they wanted.

I have always believed that the leftists have always felt that if they take that side, they can subdue and handle Islam. They are wrong. The ultimate battle will be between Islam and the left.

I guess we can be glad that neither wins.

You must be referring to Conor Powell..at least with Fox News they have on guests who defend Israel, you won’t get that on other networks..MSNBC is the Hamas spokespeople, and CNN I gave up on a long time ago after 2006 when they accused Israel of killing innocent people in Lebanon..so Fox News is the best we can do right now..Israel has been on its own since Obama was elected..they knew the moment Obama won that they were on their own. I have many family members in Israel, they begged America NOT to elect Obama, he has very very little support in Israel, but did America listen..NO..people here were too consumed about getting free stuff, that is the leftist way, and now look at us..this country is screwed..Howard Stern said it best, if Israel doesn’t exist, neither does America

Also, on the list of 84 snakes calling Israel, “War Criminals”, there was Rashid Khalidi, a buddy of our Holy Emperor... Remember the “Los Angeles Slimes” suppressed a tape of Barry O cheering at a Khalidi speech ranting about Israel before the 2008 election....
