Hi.

This should be an excerpt, Admin. Can you fix that?

“reportedly has existed for years”

Our culture is changing so rapidly. Soon we will need permission for everything, so that no one is upset over anything.

This is speech codes, thought control, being enacted.

I suppose the silver lining in all this is that no one was killed (ala the Florida A&M Marching Band)...

In many colleges with big football programs, the budget for the marching band is controlled by the athletic director.

Any scandals involving the band reflect, indirectly, on the football program, and may result in fewer donations from the alumni and supporters.

It still does not compare to the “hazing” at FAMU: the drum major, Robert Champion, was beaten to death, the band leader fired and the president of the university fired. Those suspected of actually killing the guy got suspended sentences.

All these initiations that involve insulting, intimidating, embarrassing, humiliating, lording over, verbally abusing and even physically abusing other people should have been ended long ago. And, of course, a kid or two ends up dead from these stupid rites just about every year.

If someone has worked and learned a skill for years, why should advancing to a higher level involve being subjected to such idiocy?

Boo Hoo, some new band guys got hazed.

I was in the Univ of Arkansas marching band for two years. We newbies got hazed and we didn’t whine like babies about it.

And we were all sex crazed kids anyway!

Eerie that he's in Ohio and looks so much like Drew Carey, who made a pop cult out of Cleveland.

Waters, left; Carey, right.
