You may not believe how the New Oxford American Dictionary defines ‘bigotry’

The example of “bigotry” used in a sentence is: “The report reveals racism and right-wing bigotry.” The iPhone utilizes the New Oxford English American Dictionary to define words, and the questionable example sentence appears in the web version of the dictionary as well. In the web version, however, there is an option to view more example sentences. None say anything about “left-wing bigotry,” but there is a sentence about bigotry leading to empty churches.

I just read on Drudge that in the American Oxford Thesaurus that the synonym for “obstructionist” are: right-wing,
rightest, or Tory.

O’s crew has their fingers in lots of pockets that are going to need correcting.

Associating "right-wing" with bigotry unintentionally (maybe) reveals the bigotry of those who run your company.

Orwell was an idealist who believed in ‘Democratic Socialism’. His critiques largely focused on modern totalitarianism, mainly of the Stalinist variety. Remember at the time, socialism was relatively mild compared to what it is today and certainly a pale pastel compared to the Soviet model. I doubt Orwell would be a socialist were he alive today. The man died in 1950.
