Senator John Walsh, Democrat of Montana, was appointed by Gov. Steve Bullock in February to fill the seat vacated by Max Baucus, a six-term senator who stepped down to become the United States ambassador to China.
Relatively new to politics, Mr. Walsh, 53, was elected lieutenant governor in 2012 after more than three decades in the National Guard, which included a combat tour in Iraq in 2004 and 2005. He had already declared his candidacy for Mr. Baucuss seat in Novembers midterm elections when Mr. Bullock selected him in the hopes that raising his profile would enable the Democrats to retain the seat and control of the chamber.
The Senate forecast by The Upshot gives the Democrats only a 6 percent chance of retaining the seat, while The Cook Political Report gives only a modest advantage to Mr. Walshs challenger, Representative Steve Daines, a one-term Republican congressman from Bozeman.

Because of the Letter of Reprimand that he received for using his official position to pressure soldiers to join the National Guard Association, the Army refused to grant him Federal Recognition for his promotion to Brigadier General. This occurs very rarely and Walsh was forced to retire as a Colonel.
Walsh is a liar, a cheater and a thief. Did anyone ever find that $23,000,000 of federal stimulus money that was “lost” in his department? He listed his branch as “Ordinance” at the Army War College, but he’s wearing the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB). I thought you had to be an Infantryman to wear the CIB? Where did he buy, I mean get, his Bachelor degree? I’ve seen four different universities listed.
What kind of people would promote a guy like this? I guess people just like him.
