A supportive British colonel, and a bleak vision of endless costly military operations [Israel]
The Times of Israel ^ | Friday, July 25, 2014 | David Horovitz

Posted on 07/25/2014 4:07:56 PM PDT by Star Traveler

I asked Richard Kemp how Israel might achieve a demilitarized Gaza. He shook his head at the improbability of it. ‘Some kind of peacekeeping force would be essential, but who’d do that? Not the US, not the UK, nobody’.

Col. Richard Kemp CBE, a former commander of British troops in Afghanistan, is notorious among Israel-bashers for his robust defense of the morality of Israel’s army and his empathy for the challenges Israel faces from Hamas and other Islamic extremist groups seeking its destruction.

I asked Kemp first, simply and unfairly, how Israel could win out over Hamas in the military, diplomatic and public opinion arenas, and left it for him to choose where to start. He began with the military aspects. “It’s possible to use different military operations to defeat Hamas as a viable military entity,” he opened, promisingly enough. “It can’t be done from the air. It can be done from the ground. At the moment you’re attacking the tunnels. You could move further into Gaza, to the rocket launchers and the infrastructure and the underground tunnels there.”

And here’s where things started to go downhill. “But that means a protracted operation, which is likely to be costly,” he warned. “There’s already been significant cost to Israel in the ground operation. There’d be more clashes with those the Israeli troops are assaulting. As with British forces in Afghanistan, you’re facing suicide attacks, roadside bombs, IEDs, booby traps, snipers. Except Hamas has had a lot more time to prepare than the Taliban had in any particular area of Afghanistan. You’re also operating in very heavily populated areas. This all means major advantages to the defenders. Tanks, artillery and aircraft are of more limited use. You’re fighting hand-to-hand.”

It's not a heartening analysis ... but ... I do know what the Bible says about this. The trouble is going to continue, Jerusalem is going to continue to be oppressed and under the gun. Hard days are coming ... but in spite of that kind of gloomy picture, God does preserve Israel through all the hard times ... and when the Messiah of Israel returns to this earth, Israel is rescued.

That doesn't mean that we sit back and just wait, because part of what happens in the future has to do with what we do, too. It's just that the Bible has already told it that it's ONLY when the Messiah of Israel returns that we have what the Bible says ... "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem"! Maranatha!

Glass the Gaza and then come in and do what you do, with excellence and aplomb.

Ummm ... that would kinda contradict the Israeli Ambassador’s words here ... LOL ...

Here’s what the Israeli Ambassador said just a few days ago!

“THE GAZA RESIDENTS ARE NOT OUR ENEMY!”

— — —

Speaking at the conference, Israel’s ambassador to the body, Eviatar Manor told the debate that “Israel will destroy Hamas’ military infrastructure.” He also added that “the Gaza residents are not our enemy. Israel is fully committed to international law.” The ambassador also slammed the UN Human Rights Council saying they had “failed to protect the human rights of Israelis,” Haaretz reports.

Also, look at what the IDF did here!

IDF Opens Hospital for Palestinians, Hamas Prevents Access

http://www.idfblog.com/blog/2014/07/25/idf-opens-hospital-for-palestinians-hamas-prevents-access/

The IDF has opened a temporary hospital for Palestinians on the Israeli side of the Erez Crossing. Even as terrorists fire rockets at Israel, the hospital is treating wounded civilians in cooperation with the Red Crescent. Hamas, the terrorist organization that rules Gaza, has prevented Palestinians from entering Israel in order to reach the hospital.

Israel could win from the air. Just pound those areas into dust. Drop leaflets to warn the so called “civilians” and then unleash Hell. Alternate between air strikes and artillery strikes until the rubble bounces.

Then do it again.

Israel’s policy is only what Israel determines for itself.

And they’re saying to them, that “they” intend to live peaceably ... but, not in regards to terrorist operatives who attack Israel.

There’s a professional military man who says in his analysis that Israel can’t win from the air ...

It is a five step process:

1) Declare war,
2) over run Gaza
3) Kill those that fight
4) enslave those that remain
5) Tell the UN to F off

Israel could win sitting on its butt.
Cut off the water and electricity (for which the Pali Arabs are not paying...) and continue the blockade.

#1 ... not necessary.
#2 ... they’re already in there now.
#3 ... they’re doing it
#4 ... Israel doesn’t enslave people, and by their own internal laws.
#5 ... they’re a bit more diplomatic than that ... :-) ...

One of the FALSE ACCUSATIONS at the Human Rights Council, the lie that the terrorists TRY to get others to actually believe — is that Israel is targeting Palestinian civilians in Gaza for deprivation and punishment, along with the purposeful killing of them.

However Israel has said that THIS IS A LIE ... spoken by terrorists who do that themselves,

SO ...what you’re saying is that you want to make it so that the Human Rights Council will have “solid evidence” of Israel doing this ... as opposed to “false allegations” ....

Now that sounds like a great palm for defending Israel ... LOL ...

Lessee.
We’re talking about “civilians” who elected Hamas to be their government.
Who cheered as rockets were launched against Israel.
Who feed their children hate on a daily basis.
Who voluntarily act as human shields for Hamas.

I’d tell the “Human Rights Council” to eff off and get on with the work that needs to be done. The survival of my people and my troops are far more important than any stupid ideas they have about how a war should be waged. Israel is never going to win if they are guided by those morons.

Actually, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the IDF are getting things dome ... and doing so just as they said they would do it ... which includes Post #3 and Post #5.

Have you seen what the IDF says about the Palestinian civilians?

Exclusive Interview With IAF Pilots: How They Limit Casualties
http://www.idfblog.com/blog/2014/07/20/exclusive-interview-iaf-pilots-limit-casualties/

While the IDF goes to extraordinary lengths to avoid civilian casualties, Hamas deliberately puts civilians in the line of fire. The terrorist organization bases command centers, weapons storage facilities and concealed rocket launchers inside civilian neighborhoods, sometimes even inside houses. Lt. Or and Lt. Omer are two pilots in the Israel Air Force whose work reduces harm to civilians in Gaza.

Lt. Or is a 25-year-old soldier with an enormous responsibility. He decides whether to call off an airstrike in Gaza for the sake of preserving human life.

Lt. Or operates drones over Gaza in order to gather intelligence before airstrikes. The drones provide the IDF with a clear picture of the ground in real time. “Before every flight, we have a briefing about what is happening in the Strip,” said Lt. Or. “Then we perform a reconnaissance mission to ensure the intelligence matches the reality on the ground.”

The purpose of this intelligence gathering is to ensure that a strike on a target will not cause harm to civilians. “Before every airstrike, the pilot needs permission from us,” Lt. Or. emphasized. “We [Israel] are the only side in this conflict that attempts to prevent civilians from being harmed.”

Also ...

How is the IDF Minimizing Harm to Civilians in Gaza?
http://www.idfblog.com/blog/2014/07/16/idf-done-minimize-harm-civilians-gaza/

The IDF does everything possible to limit civilian casualties in Gaza. Hamas exploits these efforts by encouraging Palestinian civilians to ignore the IDF’s warnings.

Phone Calls and Text Messages

As part of its efforts to minimize civilian casualties in Gaza, the IDF makes phone calls and sends text messages to civilians residing in buildings designated for attack. In the following video, you can hear a recording of an IDF soldier calling a Gazan to warn him of an impending airstrike in his vicinity.

Leaflets

The Israel Air Force has dropped leaflets over Gaza that warn civilians to avoid being present in the vicinity of Hamas operatives. These leaflets urge civilians to move away from Hamas targets, making clear Israel’s intention to minimize civilian casualties. Since the operation began, Hamas has repeatedly instructed Palestinians to ignore these warnings.

Roof-Knocking

“Roof knocking” is when the IAF targets a building with a loud but non-lethal bomb that warns civilians that they are in the vicinity of a weapons cache or other target. This method is used to allow all residents to leave the area before the IDF targets the site with live ammunition.

The following video demonstrates how Hamas exploits the IDF’s efforts to avoid civilian casualties. On July 9, Palestinians fled a Hamas target after the IAF fired a warning shot. Moments later, people in the surrounding area flocked to the roof of the target, acting as human shields. The IAF called off the strike to avoid civilian casualties.

Just a reminder folks:

The so-called Palestinians were once called "refugees" living in refugee camps.
