The real problem is Stalinism. Concentration of power is the inevitable result of technology without the mitigating power of Torah. Orthodox Eastern Christianity, which feeds on the stream of Torah, could have brought meaning to the overthrow of the Tzar. The question is what is going on in the mind of Putin. Stalin would never have put Bibles in the public schools. The historical Russian/Christian idea saw a great Redemptive purpose and mission for Russia to fulfill. Putin could adapt the sentiment of the US Declaration, and relax the hands of the State from around the neck of Mother Russia. Apparently this is not the case. He is acting as a ruthless opportunist as he sees the impotent West gnashing its teeth over a bunch of Stone Age Camel Jockies. The post-modern jackass in the White House is so smart that he is utterly without conviction, other than his passionate belief that you can’t be sure of anything. No wonder he looks like a feckless wag! He is.
