Now that they're empty-nesters, Ron Howard and his wife have sold their nest straddling the New York and Connecticut state line for $US27.5 million ($A29.8 million).
Howard and his wife, Cheryl, bought the Conyers Farm estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, and Armonk, New York, in 1991 and spent years constructing the house and outbuildings.

I’ve always thought of him as a doofus. Haven’t changed my mind.
He’s a liberal doofus.....
....and to think I once considered him and Andy benign endearing good folk.
Another socialist teaches us how to live.
Can’t wait to see what the capital gains tax will be.
It’s perfectly OK to make a bazillion dollars if you are in entertainment or sports. It is business and finance that are evil. Why? Because they are actually productive unlike sports and entertainment.
bttt
Liberal paradise 1% leaders and 99% peasants!
Gee, I guess the recession is over, the property was only listed for $17,500,000 in 2010.
Hallelujah OBAMA!

Opine is such a goober.
Property taxes on that estate must be astronomical (perhaps, 6 figures annually). Leftists know that sucks.
Hopie Opie Dopie
Maybe Opie will now move back to Mayberry???
I wonder if Howard has ever scolded the US for “income inequality”.
I bet that he got property tax relief as a farm.
In Texas, they can and do exclude the house from your Ag Exemption. They did so to me for 17 years.
The house and 5 acres out of 200 were taxed at the normal rate.
Taxes did get to be a concern because of this.
Just had a clarifying moment on why do so many of the Hollywood types support super liberal ideas.
It is a simple matter of “projection”. They came by their super wealth almost as a gift, with little actual labor or hard work and through projection think that is how everyone else did as well.
Naturally, their projection also protects them from any guilt or a need to share their wealth with those they see as in need, it our collective deep pockets that is owed.
Opie, you’ve done well.
Now, STFU.
Not to mention the creation of jobs. Amazes me how the media coddle rich athletes and movie stars who are basically selfish individuals. My grandfather was a small business owner. During the depression he refused to let my mother work for him because he could provide a home for her and she would be taking a job from someone who needed it. By the way, he took no salary for himself and managed to show a profit of $1 so the bank wouldn’t call his loan. By today’s standards I guess he would be an evil capitalist and the masses would be crying for higher taxation so they could have more free stuff.
The first $500,000 of profit will be exempt from tax. Everything in profit above that figure will be taxed.
