The federal government says 173 unaccompanied immigrant children have been placed in Minnesota since the start of the year.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement on Thursday issued a state-by-state breakdown of unaccompanied child placement. The figures show more than 30,000 children have been released to sponsors this year through July 7. The specific locations of the placements were not specified.

Fifty have been placed in Wisconsin.

Texas, New York, Florida and California are receiving the most unaccompanied children caught at the U.S. border, according to the information.

Federal and state governments are scrambling to find shelter for the children fleeing violence in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat, is leading efforts to bring to the state more unaccompanied children who've fled Central America for the U.S. Ellison said Minnesota is as well-equipped as any other state to handle the children.

Smuggling is not trafficking. It is littering no matter what it’s called and it’s illegal unless Obama does it MEM smiles.

The really sad thing is these “children” aka pawns, will be placed in homes that know their is another bag of money they can get ‘supporting’ these illegals. Just like the CPS system, adopt a child and you get years of support and specialists (?) who come to evaluate and treat a child on the books. All most of these children need is love and discipline and they would return such but get CPS involved and the medical side of this program sees their money pot.

We are a sad nation devoid of Christ and the teachings of The Bible which are God breathed.

I don't know if it's true, but someone here wrote the other day that our political asylum policies and laws did not, or should not, apply to these illegals. I don't have the black letter law, but: "The right of asylum (sometimes called political asylum, from the Greek: ἄσυλον) is an ancient juridical concept, under which a person persecuted by his or her own country may be protected by another sovereign authority, a foreign country, or church sanctuaries (as in medieval times)." Ordinarily someone like Edward Snowden seeks and is granted political asylum. Ordinarily the country granting asylum knows that the country seeking the individual wants him back in order to punish him. Here, we have El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras all saying, "Please take them. We don't want them." But that's not all: they have the temerity to suggest that these tattooed, dead-end gang-bangers are somehow our fault and we are obligated to accept them. And the Loyal Opposition, as usual, reminds us to stress "loyal" while "opposition," not so much. They're on board with amnesty by other means. If they were not, they would be calling on Obama with ultimatums.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement has been in existence since at least 2012.

(story from 2013)Escape from Honduras

Last year, the Office of Refugee Resettlement (Health & Human Services) in Washington, D.C., contracted with Bethany through our collaborative relationship with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services to open a transitional/residential facility to provide shelter for unaccompanied children over the age of 14. The facility, aptly named Bridgeway, provides shelter, educational and social/emotional assessment, elementary education, and ESL services to unaccompanied minors. Bethany is presently the largest unaccompanied refugee minor resettlement agency in the nation and the Office of Refugee Resettlement has announced that they are estimating a 44 percent increase in unaccompanied minors seeking help in 2013.

I told our local school board president that I would vote against any future increases in money for our local schools if any illegals were accepted.

She accused me of wanting to punish “our” kids because of a political issue. I pointed out that if our school is in such dire financial straits, those wishing to dump illegals on us were the ones doing harm.

To make matters worse, I did it publicly with loud agreement from nearly all within earshot.

Again, we have a taxing authority (schools) that ‘earn’ income from the feds for each student that is there. Again, it increases their resume to have the number of students increase under their time of power. And, when I asked how many illegals we had in our school district, I was told that was not available! Athletes got hurt and sued the school district since they had no health insurance!! Taxpayers are robbed at every level we are paying and even with charitable organizations who are supporting the law breakers to have grant money along with those who give to it.

I recently worked a resale charity and those who don’t speak English have ROLLS of money. They make cash for their services so they get govt. food and housing and gas, etc. So, we are imploding upon ourselves when we allow ourselves and contractors to use illegal labor. They have learned to fill out the papers where they have so many dependents that no taxes are taken from their checks and sooner or later, usually years later, when IRS comes up with a non-match, they are gone to another gig in another city/state. All the while we say we want better for our children!! And, most kids lately cannot take a step without checking to see if someone has contacted them on their iphones or googling what to do. We are ripe for invasion and not only from S.America but the Middle East.

I don’t know anything about asylum law but I read a post on FR within the last few days from someone that seemed to know. They said asylum had to happen while the person was in their country of origin. Therefore, those that have crossed our border cannot be granted asylum and that’s why Obummer is looking at sending his minions to Honduras to process kids there then send them on planes here.

As I mentioned on another thread, the “kids” are being reunited with sponsors and family members all over the country and we the taxpayer are paying these families $$$s to care for the kids. Many/most of the family members are here illegally (the Feds aren’t checking legal status). IMO the sane thing to do would be to ship the entire family back to the country of origin; however, than wouldn’t fall into Obama’s grand plan.
