The states have been reduced to the status of any other interest group. The national association of paint manufacturers has about as much clout in DC as the states.

While I am not against property quals, El Presidente wouldn't be insulting and burdening the states like this if we still had a senate of the states.

The 17th Amendment inflicted a mortal wound on our republic, for while it denied state representation, it left intact constitutional powers over the states.

We have a federal constitution, yet we do not have a federal government. The 17th must go.

I think this country is already lost. Synagogue's are vandalized in Miami. Illegals protesting outside the White House, Blacks been riding high, but I got news for them. The Hispanic gangs will make them look like little school girls. There will not be a black gang banger left alive. It's heating up. Europe is erupting. The Mid-East is on fire. We are going to get hit with something any time now. As soon as Iran gets it nuke ready, look out!

I do think they will hit Israel first. I have always felt Israel is the only thing holding these nuts in check, but why should they help us now? We are no longer their friend. Not my choice but our turds in office. ALL of them. Both sides suck. They stand around bantering back and forth like this is some kind of game. Some days I wish that plane had not gone down in PA. We would no longer have a capital, but maybe it would have woke these professional grifters up.

I'm working my wat through Amity Shales' Coolidge. The 17th Ammendment was a "Progressive" piece of legislation sold as a means of getting rid of "special intrests." It's mentioned as an aside as Coolidge tried to stem the tide of progressivism. If he had run for a full term we might have avoided FDR's great depression and all that followed.
