Massachusetts Republicans have amped up their criticism of Gov. Deval Patrick’s approach to potentially sheltering immigrant children in federal custody within Massachusetts, while the administration is seeking to quell the concerns of local officials.

Federal facilities for detained children who crossed the border illegally and unaccompanied by a guardian have been overwhelmed, and Patrick has offered Joint Base Cape Cod in Bourne and Westover Air Reserve Base as potential sites to house the children. The federal government has not yet responded.
Patrick sent a representative - Homeland Security Undersecretary Kurt Schwartz - to a select board meeting in Bourne on July 22, and said afterwards it seemed the people “don’t want to deal with the realities of the situation.”
The comment irked Hunt. “That’s a typical ploy of an elitist thinker to immediately belittle the other side, to characterize them as Neanderthal knuckle-draggers who ‘if only they had the capacity to understand what I’m saying, then they would agree with me.’ And that’s what made me so mad about this situation,” he told Fox 25.
Hunt, who said he grew up on the Texas-Mexico border and worked for years in Juarez, Mexico, knocked Patrick for not involving local officials before announcing his offer.
“When you have a situation with no information, it causes rumors. It breeds distrust and fear, and that’s what we saw at the Bourne Select Board meeting the following Tuesday,” Hunt said. The House lawmaker, who was elected in 2010, shared his feelings with the governor in a letter written Friday, introducing himself after Patrick told FOX 25, “I’m not sure I’ve even met Rep. Hunt, but he’s certainly not a part of the deliberations we’re going through.”

Good start Coupe d’val. Add Cambridge and Martha’s vineyard to the area and take away Westover and we have a deal. In fact, I think we can up your ante many fold.
Actually, the Town of Sandwich (est. 1628), a town bordering on the base, is fairly conservative. At the time I weighed anchor for TX a few years ago, the town gov't was 100% GOP.

You can find many once you venture away from the Boston area. While visiting family in Mass. last week I browsed through the local paper. On the editorial pages there were often viewpoints that were pro 2nd amendment, anti Obama, and anti illegal immigrant.
Half of Massachusetts lives within 128.
And therein, along with the college belt around Amherst and Springfield, lies the problem! The blue-red area map probably isn't all that bad in MA, just like the national one shows electoral disease primarily in the urban areas.
So one would think. But, the left wing disease has moved into the rural areas too. The George Soros funded anti-fracking vermin are hard at work rallying country residents against a new northern pipeline to bring gas to the east coast.
This a gas line, not oil. It will be buried 20 feet deep. Yet the idiots are worried about ground water in New York, property rights twenty feet underground, and increasing the carbon output. They all see the documentary "Gasland" as gospel. I hope the urban liberals within the 128 belt vote their self interest. Right now I think the political leadership will support the new pipeline.
