Take, for example, David Grain. According to Federal Election Commission reports, Grain gave $60,000 to Obamas campaign and the DNC in 2008, and he gave $22,500 in 2012.
Grain has also been a lucrative fundraising partner for Obama. In 2008, Grain helped raise an additional $200,000 to $500,000 for Obama, according to a report in Bloomberg News.
And now, money is set to flow the other direction
You see, Grain owns a private equity firm called Grain Management, LLC. that failed to qualify under existing rules as a small business for an upcoming Federal Communications Commission (FCC) airwave license auction.
Luckily for Grain, the FCC suspended the rules in a closed-door, party-line vote, and the Head of the FCC, Democrat Tom Wheeler, took the lead on a waiver to the action rules.
This will allow Grain to get exclusive discounts not otherwise available to major telecom firms.
The worst part is that Grains firm isnt even a telecom company. Instead, its a private equity and financial firm that has no real interest in the airwaves other than flipping them for a massive profit.

How is this any different from the Chamber of Commerce Crony Capitalists in the GOP-E?
32 of the GOP Senators have taken huge amounts of money from the Chamber of Commerce whose stated goal is to pass Amnesty.
Once again, how is this any different?
The Chicago Mob ran the city and state that way for generations. Now it’s reached full bloom in DC.
And why I think they will select someone other than Hillary for “Baraq’s third term”.
“The Chicago Mob ran the city and state that way for generations. Now its reached full bloom in DC.”
Went to see that movie “AMERICA”. It spent some time talking about how Saul Alinsky (radical) spent several years with Capone in his mob. Learned techniques that he would later apply to his politics.
Anyone want to guess what color David Grain is?
No difference. But human nature is to get pissy when the other side does it and ignore it when your side does it. Frankly, it’s why we’re doomed.
At any rate, Crony Capitalism is the name of the game. And these people play it very well. I suppose kudos are in order...they figured it out and behave accordingly. And reap the rewards. I guess the rest of us are really just suckers.
It doesn’t really matter! But your comment makes this thread unsuitable for non-FR use. We need to keep race out of our comments unless it is really germane.
I mentioned because it smacks of a preference You know, ignoring the rules to get more “diversity” in telecommunications etc
Did you even read the linked article?
Sorry you took it the wrong way, but I know what I meant and for you to cc: Admin was BS
The difference is that the GOP corruption got adequate publicity. Just giving some equal time.
The quality of a democracy will never exceed the quality of the press.
Yes, I have read the article and YOU are the only one injecting race into the thread with your snide remark. The rest of the posts deals with mob and crony capitalism.
He's a big bud of Obama and Charlie Crist.
To the powerful, they are all better than us and they deserve it. The rest of us have to live by the rules, but they don’t. Left or right, those in power are criminals, nothing more.
Go to his website and note the “certification as minority business”
2-3 blacks, a couple of white guys, and a white female.
You want to bet me this organization wasn’t specifically set up for race and gender based preferences? Look at who its clients are, they should tell you alot, if you really paid attention.
Surely you don’t believe for one minute this was not just about a bundler for Obama, but also a race-based gift to an unqualified organization. If so, then think again. Grain and his cronies game the system, and not just by political donations.
Stop kidding yourself along with your phony accusations.
