No, it will be a candidate who is conervative, sides w Israel and our allies, seals the borders, and is a fiscal conservative.
My impression, over the years, is that Republicans and conservatives are more authentic. In that, they are more willing to talk about conservative values, why those values are superior to liberalism, etc.
Democrats and liberals don’t even want to call themselves liberal anymore. They try to say they aren’t liberal. They try to avoid talking about issues, and their ideas for solving our problems. They attack excesses of capitalism, for example, without addressing fallout from their policies. They talk about wars on women, racism, homophobia, as a means of avoiding specific discussions of specific issues. They label opponents racist/sexist, etc. without saying why such opponents are racist/sexist, etc.
Liberals act as if their views are self-evident, common sense, and that all who oppose them are ignorant. Global warming is a key example of this. If you aren’t liberal on global warming, you hate the environment, want polar bears to drown, etc.
The liberals over simplify everything, and just don’t get into deeper discussions of the issues. They try to dismiss all opposition as bigoted.
So, while there are individual exceptions of course, I would say that the conservatives are much more authentic than liberals are.
It doesn't exist in the political realm. At least on the national level. It's analogous to scum rising to the surface. IMHO, you may find a few good congressional districts, but that's about it. Even good men get polluted in the Senate. I'm particularly thinking of John Glenn. Former marine, American hero. Ended up one of the Keating 5 in the Lincoln S&L scandal.
Once you can fake authenticity, you’ve got it made.
If you can fake that, you've got it made.
