The NRA's Top Lawyer Was Once Convicted Of Murder (ZOT!)
Business Insider ^ | 7/29/14 | Pamela Engel

The National Rifle Association's top lawyer, who has been instrumental in shaping gun policy in the U.S., was once convicted of murdering a woman in Indiana....

Robert J. Dowlut, general counsel for the NRA, reportedly admitted to police in 1963 that he killed his girlfriend's mother. He was 17 years old at the time. Dowlut reportedly led police to the graveyard where he buried the gun and also copped to attempting to rob a pawnshop the same night as the killing.

Bullets from the gun Dowlut unearthed at the graveyard matched those found at the site of Anna Marie Yocum's murder and at the pawnshop, according to Mother Jones.

A jury found Dowlut guilty of murder, but his conviction was later overturned because of shoddy police work during the investigation....

That’s incorrect. The jury found him guilty.

Sorry, I misread that last bit of the blurb, and put a "not" in front of the "guilty". Thanks for the correction.

He likely will now after this story in Mother Jones, which was probably the intent.

Doubt that. Witnesses are dead. Gun is still inadmissible. Interrogation is inadmissible. There was a reason for not having a retrial when his conviction was overturned. They had no evidence left.

They have no evidence and no witnesses, everyone but Dowlut is dead now.

In spite of the fact that it is in Mother Jones, it’s a great read. I especially enjoyed the catalog of the yeoman work Mr. Dowlut did for the NRA.

I don’t think they meant to have this effect, but after reading the article I am impressed with and grateful to Mr. Dowlut.

Whether he's convictable or not doesn't matter to the Liberal Left, as long as the trial is covered daily on the front page of The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and every night on CBS, NBC, and ABC News.

It’s a classic case of a perp getting off on a ridiculous technicality.

Oh, you mean like how Bill Ayers, known to be admired by Presidant Obama, never spent a day in jail for plotting to detonate terrorist style bombs in public areas?

That kind of "rediculous technicality"?

Obama’s best friend, Bill Ayers, is a domestic terrorist. Obama lied during the campaign and said he did not know Ayers. After he won he fessed up and said they met weekly.

Got anything to say about THAT, stupid liberal??
