Something really remarkable happened on Tuesdays edition of The View. Three out of the four panelists actually came out strongly in favor of a womans right to protect herself and her children with a gun! The one panelist who didnt want a gun in the house? ABC Good Morning America co-host Lara Spencer. The three who favored firearm ownership (Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy and FNCs Juliet Huddy) all shared the real world threats that prompted them to go get a gun.
The segment began with The View airing a new ad from the gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety but instead of sparking the expected rant against guns from the usually liberal View crew, something very different happened.
First up Shepherd offered her flipside to the ad that featured a man assaulting her mother and child with a gun: The flipside is when I was at my home and the alarm went off, and I ran to my sons bedroom and Jeffrey was crying, and I realized all I had to protect me and somebody coming around that corner was a daggone wicker trash basket. And I said to myself and everybody said to me, well get a bat. You got one chance to use a bat and if they take it away. Get pepper stray. You know how close they got to get to you, if you use pepper spray? You got one of these? [makes a gesture like shes holding a gun and makes a sound of cocking a gun] Theyre not gonna come near you and your child! So when youre standing there, and you dont know how to protect your child? Get a gun in your home!

My wife is only 5-4 and maybe 105 soaking wet. But she has almost always got her S&W 9mm or 1911 with her. I am 100% behind her being armed and able to defend herself. Even into her um ... mid 40s and after two children she still has the natural beauty that can draw the wrong kind of attention.
If the dead adults at Newtown could have a do-over, I’m sure they would have preferred to have protected those kids and themselves from Adam Lanza something other than using their bodies as shields.
I guess Lara hasn’t been mugged yet.
The first 20 seconds or so of that PSA looks like it was produced by the NRA. The “restraining order” didn’t stop him, the locked door didn’t stop him, and it looks like the police aren’t going to get there in time to stop him.
If she had a gun, the last ten seconds would have showed her running to get it when he started beating on the door instead of pleading with the 911 operator.
Now that her abode has been advertised as a gun-free zone, it would be a good idea for her to get a gun.
Looks like Hillary has decided to become pro-gun after polling soccer moms.
“womans right to protect herself and her children with a gun! “
the hell with the father, apparently.
Well of course - that's a given.
You are right. I remember debating the value of a gun in the home with a woman who vehemently insisted that a gun in the home is bound to lead to disaster. If that were true, I asked the woman, you logic leads me to believe that since you have a vagina, is it true you will become a prostitute?
Hey, they should invite Ted Nuget to be on the show.
I might watch it. It would be a first time event for me.
So what would have been the “happy ending” if no gun.
The husband takes the kid away? Or maybe also deals a few blows to the wife?
Where were Whoppie and Rosie? That would have changed the complexion of the show.
Not enough to just get a gun. They need to know how to use it, clean it, fire it, etc.
I found this to be quite amusing - Gun grabbers try to use emotion to get people to disarm and it has the opposite effect.
Makes me think twice about supporting that group Not really
There was a similar ad a while back, think it can be found on YouTube, of a similar scenario.
Except that the young woman grabs her handgun, which is the first thing the assailant sees when he busts through the door. And then promptly faints ...
That was a Glock commercial.
EasyBakeGunClub just put up something similar:
