'SPEAKER CRUZ IS IN THE HOUSE' — Republican Border Plan Is In Total Chaos After Conservative Revolt
Business Insider ^ | July 31st, 2014 | Brett LoGiurato

House Republican leaders abruptly changed their plan to deal with the crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border late Wednesday night, after they were not able to muster enough votes to pass the legislation before Congress leaves Friday for a five-week recess.

Conservatives in the House revolted against the Republican-led plan, which provides about $659 million in emergency spending for the border crisis through the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30.

As a result, the House will vote Thursday on two pieces of legislation, the first being the border plan. If that legislation passes, the House would be required to vote on legislation that would bar President Barack Obama from delaying the deportation of young, undocumented immigrants.

The Republican dissent was led by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), the conservative freshman firebrand who has miffed House leadership before by meddling in the House's affairs (most notably, last year, ahead of the government shutdown).

Cruz met with a sizeable group of House conservatives in his Senate office Wednesday night, where they ate pizza and discussed the border crisis, according to sources. Some of the attendees, according to Roll Call, included Republican Reps. Steve King of Iowa, Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Steve Stockman of Texas, and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.

It's very unlikely EITHER will pass the House and Boner may not put either on the floor. Unless he has a deal with Pelosi to get SOMETHING to Conference.

That's correct. Boehner don't need no stinkin' conservative House members to push it through!

"Cut off all funds to all agencies for transportation and housing of illegals coming across — and this will end."

Somebody give this man a cookie!

That is absolutely the right answer. The House can pass a bill which precludes spending on all of this. If the Senate and POTUS don't want to sign up for that, it's OK.

Federal Govt spending authority on EVERYTHING expires in 60 days. The House could then fund everything EXCEPT the Dims Amnesty initiatives.

Then recess. Completely disappear.

Let 'em stew.

In prior days, yes.

Now, it's important to remember who controls the Department of the Treasury printing presses, and all the Dem-controlled slush funds.

My opinion is November's election will change nothing substantive in the operation of this Administration.

"In prior days, yes. "

Nonsense.

It doesn't matter if they still have money on the books.

If the House will not authorize it's expenditure, via some legislative means...CR, Budget etc. the money cannot be spent.

Bundle all spending authority into a giant CR, and PRECLUDE spending on any of the Amnesty BS. They know how to word this.

The Senate and POTUS can bitch...they can stand up and say the US Government is going to default...SS won't be paid...military won't be paid...NO MONEY FOR ANY MILITARY OPERATION...because they won't sign the House bill.

In this political climate that would be suicide for ALL Democrats.

Sarah will always be loathed because she is an attractive, intelligent woman and women are not suppose to be part of the war on women.

I've turned your post over several ways in my mind and still am not sure what to think.

One of the best votes I’d ever cast.

Ted Cruz and Ronald Reagan.

Nonsense? If you say so...nonsense it is.

And yet...

This Administration will do whatever it wants.

"This Administration will do whatever it wants. "

By crossing the threshold of spending without Congressional Authorization...even for the "Good of the Country", Obama would certainly be removed from office or the US Government would face armed revolution.

Personally I'd prefer the latter. It's certain to be the most effective and lasting solution.

"$659 million in emergency spending "

or $6,500 per 'immigrant'. They could buy them a first class plane ticket back home for 1/5 of that.

It just occurred to me that I have been hearing the same names in politics since I was a kid (30 years ago)

I am sick of the whole bunch of them.

Our only hope is that many of them have to be getting so old they will die off soon.

I can’t imagine McCain, Alexander, McConnell, etc., even surviving another 6 year term.

The press would blame it all on republicans and the RATS would hold the senate in Nov as a result.

It would accomplish nothing but helping the RATS stay in control.

If we first take the senate then the bills land on owebama’s desk. If he vetoes everything it would be on him, and hurt RATS chances in 2016.

Do not agree with either outcome of such a move by this Administration. Actually, alot of what they're doing is not purposefully funded by Congress.

What I'm saying is...

Congress NOW only thinks it controls the purse strings. Boehner has already dismissed the Constitutional provision for Presidential impeachment.

Boehner is now one of the lawless ones.

A la Oprah who says that old, white men have to die?

What a ridiculous statement to make to agree with a racist, black woman.!
