Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Yep. Only a foal would think otherwise.

And only if the foal was horsing around...

I should remember the old maxim: If it bleeds, it leads.

Hmmmmm. Shouldn't Ebola be THE #1 front page story???

Also transfusions with those that are immune have also been tried but the results have had minimum impact or survivability rates.

Actually in the past this has seen enormous success.

You know the scary thing is that he quarantined himself. And no one else required it.

How many others are returning and not quarantining themselves?

Tekmira, a Canadian pharmaceutical company, has been testing an anti-Ebola drug…currently in negotiations with the FDA. I wonder whether this is the one being discussed…perhaps other companies are working too.

BTW, your TAG LINE is simply fabulous! I’m gonna steal it! Use it somewhere for something some day.

If all goes as planned, Dr. Nahid Bhadelia will soon head straight into the heart of the Ebola outbreak that has already killed more than 700 people in western Africa, including at least 50 health care workers. Global and U.S. health authorities announced Thursday that they would ramp up efforts to bring the epidemic under control, but that it would likely take at least three to six months.

Fifty is a lot. A lot lot.

So the doctor has no symptoms, only exposure through his work in Africa.

It’s an overabundance of caution, which is a good thing.

Thanks for posting.

The article you posted states “his daughter picked him up at the airport...”

Real comforting that he flew home, apparently, on a commercial flight especially since “ he was working in the same hospital Ebola unit as American Dr. Kent Brantly”.
