Ted Cruz is running for president.
No, he hasn't announced it yet. But if you can tell a man by his actions, then expect to see Cruz in Iowa a LOT more over the next year or two. (Cruz will be in the Hawkeye State on Saturday to headline a dinner thrown by Bruce Rastetter, a major GOP fundraiser. And he's going back next week, too!)
The latest example outside of the constant Iowa trips came Wednesday, when WaPo's Bob Costa reported that Cruz was actively encouraging conservative House Republicans to oppose the spending bill pushed by Boehner aimed at addressing the crisis of undocumented children crossing at the southern border. Here's Costa:
Cruzs huddle is the latest example of the combative freshman senator wading into House affairs and serving as an informal whip against the leaderships immigration position. It is also a direct shot at Boehners effort to pass his legislative package, hours before the bill is scheduled to come to the House floor Thursday.
Boehnerworld didn't comment to Costa on Cruz's move but you can imagine that they were less than pleased. California Rep. Jeff Denham, however, was slightly more vocal about Cruz's involvement in an interview with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC on Thursday. "Ted Cruz can work on a solution in the body that he's elected to represent," said Denham. "We look forward to his solutions in the Senate. That's something he's going to have to work through."

And Chris, nobody cares what you care about or write about.
I like him, but it’s a mistake for him to run for president. He speaks to much truth for the general voter and truth is a scary thing. We need a senate leader AND a real leader in the house.
Sign me up! It would be the earliest endorsement I have made since Reagan. All other since have SUCKED and learned nothing from his two landslides.
:)
I know someone that knows John Boehner very well.
When he’s not crying, he’s either smoking or drinking. After being told this, I now have a better understanding of Boehner. He’s drunk.
Ted Cruz has Boehner crying in his bourbon. Go Ted!!

My thought is 45 years on SCOTUS.
How in the world will Ted keep his lunch down when he talks with a fifth-column leftist political skank like Andrea? He better have some barf bags handy.
Message to Rep. Jeff Denham: Ted Cruz can work on whatever the hell he wants to work on! Since you punk mealy-mouths won’t do the job you were elected to do, he has to do his job AND your job. And we are happy he’s doing it.
Badge of honor. Wear it proudly, Ted, and thank you for being a PITA to both the Dems and the GOPe! Both have led us to the brink of ruin, and both need to be defeated.
DC is so politically waterlogged that they are not able to fathom a guy doing the right thing, just because it’s the right thing to do. Oh! He must be running for president! He’s only out for himself, because he won’t help Johnny Boehner get his jollys. He must be running for president, and he’s trying to run as an outsider, and yada yada yda.
How ‘bout this, ya’ morons! Maybe, just maybe Ted Cruz made you cowards stand up and vote on the debt ceiling, BECAUSE IT IS RIGHT THAT YOU SHOULD TAKE A STAND!!!
Maybe Ted Cruz is bucking the Boehner bill because it’s just a suck piece of legislation that will do nothing to correct the problem.
If you punks would DO your jobs, instead of spending all of your time trying to figure out how to KEEP your jobs, then you would be riding to the sound of the guns WITH Ted Cruz instead of meeting him head-on as you’re scurrying the other direction!
In other words, do you advocate for things because they are the right things or do you advocate for things that work well in the current circumstances?
Virtues and principals are timeless while nuance and politics are fleeting. We have a Republican party that loves to assess the opinions of the media, the democrats, the moderates, the independents and finally and begrudgingly the conservatives. They then try to figure out what is the most convenient and popular policy to advocate at the moment.
Cruz, on the other hand, sees things in more black and white terms and calls a spade a spade. He advocates for things because they are right not necessarily because they are the most politically expedient.
His strategy is a loosing strategy in the short term. It will hand small legislative and PR victories to the Democrats in the short term. The thing is, is that if he is consistent and advocates this way for long enough and gets others to carry on after him, there is a chance to save the Republican party and the Republic itself in the long term. We need a party of virtue and principals.
He is one of the few that I would ever vote for again.
Unlike boner, I don’t think you find Cruz crying over it.
Apparently hes pretty clean....or they would have burned him by now....Only one remotely applicable that I see.
Man, God bless Ted Cruz. A glimmer of hope.
Cruz is showing Congress how to get things done BEFORE he gets to the Whitehouse!
I’m in for Cruz...decided that a ways back....listened to his father speak also....they both understand ‘American’ people and what Freedom really is.
