Ted Cruz Proves Why He’s Still the Most Hated Man in Congress
The New Republic ^ | 07/31/2014 | Danny Vinik

You may not have heard much from Senator Ted Cruz lately, but on Thursday, he came back with a force in blowing up House Republicans’ bill to address the border crisis. Make no mistake, House Speaker John Boehner—and the rest of the Republican establishment—still have a big Ted Cruz problem. And it’s only going to get bigger as the 2016 presidential election approaches.

As it stands now, Cruz has successfully persuaded a block of House Republicans to vote against the House GOP’s border bill, forcing Boehner to pull the legislation from the docket. The situation is still fluid. The House GOP had an emergency meeting this afternoon and a few members have said that they'll stay in session until they vote on the bill. While the next steps are unclear at the moment, what is clear is that Cruz played an integral part in Thursday's events.

This was yet another embarrassing moment for Boehner, new Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and new Majority Whip Steve Scalise. The GOP leadership had tried everything to convince a core group of right wingers to vote for the bill. They reduced the additional funding in it from $1.5 billion to $659 million and added a separate vote to repeal Obama’s 2012 executive action that allowed young undocumented immigrants to stay and work in the U.S. legally, which is officially called the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

I'm going over to Senator Cruz facebook page and give him the big thumbs up. Did anyone notice the pinched face of Kevin McCarthy as he announced that there would be another vote this evening? Kevin McCarthy is not a happy man! not happy!

Who is Steve King again? From which state? I'll add him to the true Conservative list of Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Louis Gohmert, Jeff Sessions...anyone else?

Steve King is from Iowa. There are plenty of others on our side. Mo Brooks from Alabama is another one.

“I did address it. You just didn’t like the answer. If Sessions had voted against Holder, it would not have prevented his confirmation. The votes just weren’t there”

So let me get this straight: When you are in a position you are likely to not get your way, you join the other side and offer praise.

Why not stand on your principles and say NO instead of going to the dark side? At least do not go along by saying the evil man is a ‘decent human being’.

Ted would never compromise his morals. As an example, he refused to support fellow Senator John Cornyn during the GOP primary earlier this year. That is the senior Senator of Texas, a fellow Texan, and in line to become Majority Leader and hand out goodies.

If you do not see the obvious with the fallacy of what Sessions did, then you are have little hope.

Senator Jeff Sessions Obliterates Obama, Holder, and Biden on Lawless Amnesty Push

It’s worth noting that the previous time Holder faced Senate confirmation, he was confirmed without any Republican dissent. When he was nominated for deputy attorney general by Clinton in 1997, Holder won confirmation by a perfect 100-0 vote.

First....thanks for all of the work you do, on the Hill, to fight amnesty.

I’m going to send an email out to everyone I know with the toll free Capitol Switchboard number, that NumbersUSA is providing (855-827-2353). I’d also like to give a short, concise talking point.

Do you have any suggestions (other than “NO AMNESTY! NO FUNDING!)...I’d especially like to include the bill(s) TO vote FOR and/or what Sen Sessions and Cruz are backing.

Thanks!

The obligatory,he is only doing it for himself!
That moniker is never plastered on the the First Black President of the United States,or The louse Nancy Pelosi,or the Senile Harry Reid or the plethora of other self serving Bastards in the government.
Ted Cruz was RIGHT to do what he did,he is showing LEADERSHIP,something that has almost disappeared from Washington,if that leadership results in the American public being served properly then bring it on.
I am sick an tired of Ted Cruz being criticized for standing up and doing the right thing!

From NumbersUSA:

On Thursday morning, House Leadership was confident that its emergency supplemental border surge bill would pass that afternoon.

But your relentless phone calls bogged down the Capitol Switchboard and convinced enough House Reps. to vote no, forcing Leadership to delay the vote!

Since my email last night, we're now hearing through our Capitol Hill sources that Leadership may allow a change in the language that modifies the 2008 anti-trafficking law and include Rep. Marsha Blackburn's (R -Tenn.) original bill that would defund DACA. If both of these changes are made, it would be a good bill.

Here's the toll-free number to the Capitol Switchboard:

855-827-2353

Here is your talking point:

Please ensure that the border surge supplemental includes Rep. B lackburn's original bill to defund DACA and Reps. Carter and Aderholt's bill that modifies the 2008 Wilberforce law. Unless both of these changes are made to the final bill, please oppose it.

They are debating the amended bill now on C-SPAN. If the changes urged by Steve King are included in the amended bill, it should be supported. Steve said on Greta's show last night that based on the meeting he had to discuss the bill, he is fairly confident that the changes will be made and the bill will be passed. We shall see.

Three things:

1.Ted was not in office so he did not vote in 1997 nor 2009 for Holder
2. Sessions was in office during both votes and voted to confirm him both times
3. It is noted that Sessions, along with others who voted in 2009 to confirm Holder apparently did not know who Holder truly was even after 12years after the vote. I call that stupid or naive. And he is not alone.

And the height is reached when you not only vote for evil, but to go out of you way to praise him.

And I will continue to do so proudly. FYI: Sessions is running unopposed in AL. I guess you are odd man out. I have been on FR since 2003. You are the only one I have ever seen who dislikes Jeff Sessions. Maybe you are on the wrong site.

“... but to go out of you way to praise him. “

I see now you are an imbecile.

I in no way intimated it was Sessions you were praising.

Go reread my posts.

Sessions praising Holder is what I said. And it is stupid.

Good luck, Alabama.

I’ll stand tall and proud with Cruz at my back here in Texas.

I see now you are a colossal jerk. It is not a zero sum game when it comes to Sessions and Cruz. You can actually like and support both. Go back under you rock.
