I know. Discouraging, isn’t it? No matter what Americans want, the government does the opposite. So much for democracy.

In a way, it did some good.
A number of Congresspeople who voted for it were tossed out in 2010. They learned (or at least I hope they learned) to start listening to their constituents.
But in the short term, no, it didn’t do much good.
