Coal Miners Union In Full Revolt After Supporting Obama In 2008
Daily Caller ^ | 2:45 PM 08/02/2014 | Michael Bastasch

Posted on 08/02/2014 5:44:20 PM PDT by Olog-hai

It’s unlikely that United Mine Workers of America president Cecil Roberts thought he would be arrested protesting the energy policies of the very politician his union supported in 2008. But things have come full circle for coal miners, who now see President Obama’s climate agenda threatening their livelihoods.

Roberts and other UMWA members were arrested Thursday marching through Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, towards the federal building the Environmental Protection Agency was holding field hearings for a new rule that could very well force more coal mines and plants to shut down. …

A gallon of gasoline is four dollars or a little more where I live. A gallon of GASAHOL is three and change. If I actually believed in the minimum wage concept I would say that the minimum wage should be twenty dollars based on the fact that in 1963 it was one dollar and a quarter and that would buy five gallons of pure gasoline here. Now five gallons of pure gasoline costs twenty dollars or slightly more. The price of food has followed a similar curve. It probably costs nearly twenty dollars to buy what one and a quarter bought then. The official CPI figures from the government are ridiculous. The chart says that $9.74 will buy what $1.25 bought in 1963. Anyone who believes that is either too young to remember or has a bad memory. They come up with that by using all kinds of “adjustments” that have zero to do with the cost of survival. Anyone who made twice that one and a quarter an hour in 1963 could do very well in my neck of the woods. You can make $18.48 now and not do nearly as well as you could do on $2.50 then.

Instead of bitchin about your boy king, why don’t get training in a new field and take care of your families.

Well, the rest of us will be left out in the cold. Literally.

I won’t cry too much for them. If Obama were running again, they would all vote for him again..

Yes...that is a point which needs to be expanded on. Just like the black community, these people have no real character, IMO. One can say voter fraud could account for the final numbers, but I don;t think so because they always voted for Dims. It is truly amazing that people will vote themselves out of a living...but Europeans have been doing it for a long time. Ever notice no one ever mentions the cost of living in western European countries? Bottom line is people that dumb will not be free nor do they deserve so!

I don’t disagree with you, but I’ve been watching these same people fall for this year after year after year...
In that sense, they are of the exact same mentality as most blacks in this country. They keep voting for the very people causing their misery.
Democrats cause problems, so every 2, 4, or 6 years they can show up, pull out their huntin’ rifle, and hillbilly accent, and convince them the Republicans are only for the “rich”, and if they don’t reelect them, the eeevvviilll republicans wont let them solve the problems.
Joe Manchain ran a commercial where he took a rifle and shot a “Hole through Cap & Trade”. Who was the first Senator talking about new gun restrictions after Newtown?
Will any of them remember that in 4 years? Nope, they’ll send that liar right back to D.C..
It’s like watching the movie “Groundhog Day”.

What you say is true but I know of no other politician who so blatantly made promises that could be kept only by an OMNIPOTENT BEING. Even more disturbing is the number of both professed believers and ATHEISTS who seemed not to notice that he was claiming that he would do what only God could do.

Obama supporters seemed to be walking in a fog, completely unaware of the total reality of what was happening and anyone who still supports him is either totally divorced from reality or has something to gain by doing so. There are some now who claim that anything that is not perfect about Obamacare is the fault of the Republicans who voted AGAINST it.

Yes, but just think how awful it was in the old days when Dad worked a farm and Mom raised the kids and canned the vegetables from the garden and killed and dressed chickens raised on whatever they could find around the farm and the kids went to a school where they learned how to read, write, do sums and recite the constitution. Can you imagine how awful those days were? Children playing with toy guns and learning to shoot real ones at age ten or less, sixteen year old males taking on responsibilities like an adult, driving school buses and such. How horrible that was, I don’t know how I managed to survive it.

Women marry men thinking they will change, men marry women thinking they won’t change, inevitably both are dissapointed.

Einstein, IIRC.

Apparently it applies to political parties.

What dummies. They couldn't see this back in ‘08?

True, there as no lack of warning by Obama himself what his agenda was when he proudly announced "energy prices will necessarily skyrocket" .... that meant coal powered anything was most certainly dead and oil was firmly in this administration's crosshairs too.

“...and convince them the Republicans are only for the “rich”...”

Does the GOP go door to door in your area? One of my major gripes in my area (PA) is that they do not. The local dems do the walkabout, shaking hands, “good-ol’boying” folks, everybody knows them - and THAT’s how they get themselves elected. I’ve brought it up to the local GOP folks... they nod, and give me a blank stare.

So the GOP does it to itself, except in rare occasions when the light bulb goes on, typically 10 minutes before the polls open.

“...I don’t disagree with you, ...”

Yes, I think we’re both on the same page, friend... just trying to figure out the best approach to the issue.

I think it takes person-to-person on our part. You wake up one or two persons, it’s still a victory. There’s no one as motivated as a convert who realizes he or she has been effed over...

I hate to see good folks losing their jobs in areas where there are precious few to be had. That said, we are starting to see some long term Democrat constituents turn on Obama. Here is to hoping he is so divisive that ideological lines get redrawn in the favor of Patriots and the working class.

Note to gays, women, minorities: Liberal politicians are the scorpions, you are the frogs who helped give them a ride across the river. Do you actually think....excuse me, feel they won't sting you next?

They're scorpions. It's what they do.

Unions and their membership were not pro-Obama in 2012?

Or are you referring specifically to the election fraud? That doesn’t really speak anything to the voting habits of unions.
