Just as Yasir Arafat orchestrated the Intifada of 2000 while ostensibly talking Peace in Camp David, Hamas has been planning a massive Tunnel War ever since Operation Cast Lead in 2008.
There have been reports that this was supposed to happen on the Jewish New Year but was pre-empted by Israel's Defensive Action-"Operation Protective Edge".
The Kidnapping and Murder of Neftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar, and Eyal Yifrach which prompted Israel's Defensive Operation was no doubt a part of an overall strategy by Hamas leading up to its planned Tunnel Invasion in September. Its stockpiling of rockets in schools, mosques, hospitals, and UN installations was all part of a very well thought out strategy to curry world sympathy to tie Israel's hands when defensive action by Israel would be taken.
The Tunnel network, is so vast and intricate that Israel is having a more difficult time destroying them than initially thought. The amount of American Taxpayer money that has been invested in these tunnels could well have been used for the Humanitarian purposes that they were designed for in good faith. Had that happened and the funds were used for their proper purposes, Gaza could well be an economic powerhouse instead of an overcrowded Slum. Hamas has no intention of ever giving up on its dream to destroy Israel.
This is as clear as its ever been. However, Hamas along with the Muslim Brotherhood has its sights on much larger terrain.-namely America....

The 64 or so Israeli people killed in this war (thus far) is equivalent to America losing ~2,500 people, in 26 days!

The HAMAS plan to kill, capture and destroy Israeli civilian communities on Rosh Ha Shana (Jewish New Year, this coming September) is an event that would have demanded absolute annihilation of Gaza and the expulsion of tha 1.5 million Gazans.
It cannot be underestimated what Israel would have done after losing MANY THOUSANDS of civilians in a MEGA-TERROR ATTACK on a scale not seen since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
In this PRE-EMPTIVE war, the world would have PREFERRED that there would have been 1700 dead Paleostinians to 1700 dead Israelis. Then, the UN and many other bodies would have been HAPPY that all things are “equal”, “fair” and “balanced” and that there is a sort of grotesque sense of JUSTICE in this conflict.
Symmetry would have been nice BUT, those DAMN Jews refuse to die so easily, as in the past.

In short, damn the Jews for DISPROPORTIONALLY damaging and killing in Gaza, it's just not FAIR. Disproportionately is, unfortunately, the ONLY THING these 5th Century BC tribes understand. Anybody who now ridicules Israel for “heavy handed” techniques does not realize that they, themselves are in the Islamic Caliphate cross hairs, and that ISRAEL'S FIGHT, IS OUR FIGHT, so wake up folks... Every nation in the world, faced with Israel's dilemmas would not have thought twice about completely destroying an enemy, shelling it's towns and cities since 2000. The "MODERATE" PLO-FATAH shelled Israel from 2000-2007. Then HAMAS had the "privilege" of shelling Israeli civilians centers from 2007-present. What would you do in Israel's predicament?
Israel, like the big powers (USA, China, Russia, UK) have thermonuclear weapons alongside the nuclear weapons that lesser powers (DPRK, Pakistan, Iran, Brazil, India) possess and also have cruise missiles on submarines.

After the collapse of communism around the world, liberals in the US were out in the wilderness, not knowing where to go.
Then, 9/11 happened.
Liberals saw the US brought to a standstill, even incapable of defending its airspace, its economy shattered, its people stunned and desperate and a gov’t ready to take advantage of that....all this done by a handful of pawns with box-cutters.
Then, liberals realized that they were once the allies of these islamists. Could they combine their efforts once again to possibly rule the world....as they once came so close before?
So, while the liberals position the Western nations for economic and political collapse (and opening their borders), the islamists are allowed to fight it out and create their caliphate.
The islamists detonate nuclear weapons (dirty or not) inside major cities around the world. Liberals caution jumping to conclusions while the evidence is swept away. The terrorists trained on Western soil, in remote camps inside our borders. It must have been the work of militia groups and radical TEA Partiers.
While millions die a slow death from radiation, our economies collapse immediately. Radical action must be taken quickly, but that do-nothing Congress stands in the way. The President takes sweeping authority on himself/herself and bypasses Congress. The nation applauds.
Our Constitution is re-written online. Every citizen can participate...it will be written by the people, not just a handful of white slave-owners.
Our old ways are swept away. Natural Law is dismissed as people crave security and an unshackled, powerful, central government.
