Open Letter to Derek Hunter: Your letter could have worked 8 years ago. Since then events have rendered it just a piece of propaganda for a useless party. Here are my main points -If you were honest, you would have urged both sides to unite. But you only target Conservatives. We have seen when the shoe was on the other foot and tea party favorites won the primary. The GOP establishment has and is still stabbing them in the back to ensure they lose the general election, even if an awful Democrat wins it. -The status quo is unsustainable. With the level of the current GOP leadership we are still going to bankruptcy, but maybe a little slower. Also, none of the leaders seem to be able to articulate fiscal conservative principles or Austrian Economics principles. If they can't even articulate what's wrong with the minimum wage and are so overwhelmed by the other side on this obvious issue that they decided to join the other side, what's the point of having those leaders? And let's not talk about how wishy-washy they are on Amnesty so that they don't anger the Chamber of Commerce!

Regardless, my first point is the most important. If you want unity, you'd better tell your buddies to work hard to support tea party candidates when they win primaries. Otherwise, we will treat your wing of the GOP as the enemy (the same as the Democrats), the same way they have treated us (and continue to do so). I used to see a huge difference between the parties. Mississippi opened my eyes and reminded me of past backstabbings. Well, no more.

Well I'm clearly in the minority here. I would like to see a GOP Senate majority in November. Teaching the GOPe a lesson would make me feel good as well but that feeling would be very, very short lived. Harry Reid can make me feel bad forever.

Face it, we not going to fill the Senate with 100 Ted Cruz clones overnight or in any one election cycle. Fight the good fight like we have for years and we can change the face of Congress. Teaching the GOPe “A Lesson” is a terrible strategy. They won't learn the lesson and we will all be worse off despite our well intentioned efforts.

Your points are right on the mark. But, as the comments thus far clearly show, people are really, really mad and they are not going to take anymore. Unfortunately, what they are going to do is to shoot themselves in the foot and help the Democrats even though that is the last thing they want to happen.

The GOP can kiss my vote goodbye. The GOP just whitewashed the Benghazi issue by saying the military was not told to stay away or stand down and no one attempted to contrive a false reason for the attack. This from the Intelligence Committee lead by Republicans.

I write today in the hope you all can get over whatever anger, distrust or bruised egos this primary season and political year has caused you.

Thad Cochran. Ken Cuccinelli

That's "conservative speak" for go F*** yourself.

The RINOs will lie, cheat, steal, and even stack the courts to deprive conservative candidates. Even when we win anyway, they then undermine conservative nominees and even give overt support to Democrats. Conservatives have NEVER done the same to the "moderates." The worst we've done is to stay home and even then the RINOs didn't get the hint.

Abe says it best what I tried to say above. The fault is ours. Abe will explain from "the other side."

If you could first know where you are and whither you are tending, you could better judge what to do and how to do it. You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

The question today is either the opponents of statism will arrest the further spread of it and place it on course of ultimate extinction, or its advocates will push it forward till it shall become permanent.

Have you no tendency to the latter condition?

Let anyone who doubts carefully contemplate that now almost complete legal combination — piece of machinery, so to speak — compounded of the Republican Party hands-across-the-aisle doctrine and the dreadful actions among statism's chief architects.

Umm, it depends.

I am going to have no problem this fall voting for Terry Lynn Land this fall even though she is exhibiting high RINO risk factors. She was a competent SOS.

If I lived in Mississippi however, I would not vote for Cochran. He flat out stabbed the Republican base in the back. There is no room for that.

McConnell? Ehhh... I might be able to hold my nose but I would feel very dirty afterward.

VERY well said OP. This “open letter” borders on the offensive. It is the same old “just hold your nose and vote” BS that has put us where we are.

I’m going to say what I think (sadly for my wife never a problem lol). I do NOT care if the Dims keep the Senate if it gets rid of the GOPe. I unabashedly root for McConnell and Cochran to lose. If that means a Dim takes the seat, then so be it.

We are WAY past the Dim-inspired kumbaya lets just vote for any ole GOPer that we give you so we can say in power. We, the Tea Party, the Tea Bags, whatever you want to call us (I embrace all names including the pejorative) are in this for the LONG hall. It’s the long con. We are patient. We are determined to have a Conservative government for all America to raise her from the ashes and be that “beacon of light”. And that is NOT going to happen by the GOPe continuing to play us as suckers.

THAT is my open letter to the author. No. Ain’t gonna happen. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Over and over again, the rape victim is asked to comply with the rapist. At list that is how it appears to conservatives who are repeatedly maligned by the GOP Rino establishment.

As a whole, I just no longer see the GOP reflecting my values nor my ideological leanings. The past few years of seeing the leadership caving on things like spending and funding Obamacare, pushing amnesty, and running like cowardly rabbits from social issues like fag-marriage, coupled with attacks on the tea party (and the vile backstabbing of Palin before that), the Republican Party appears far more of an enemy to my beliefs than an ally. Just like their brothers-in-arms, the Dems.

I supported and voted exclusively for the GOP my entire adult life, but I now feel zero connection to what the Party now is. I still plan to vote in 2014, for two or three tea-party candidates that will be on my ballot, but the vast majority of races I’ll leave blank, just like I did in 2012. The Republican Party lost me and my family. Totally and thoroughly, severing lifelong ties.

I concur. The GOP is SUPPOSED to be conservative, yet the leadership is complicit with the progressives, because they are progressives. They have no place in the GOP if the GOP is to remain relevant.

We all have some problem with what’s happened so far. Someone we liked lost a primary. Someone we didn’t won. Some piece of legislation we hate passed; some other piece we liked did not. No one is completely happy, but we all know things can get much worse – and will if we don’t put aside what divides and do what we must for the cause of liberty.

As a CONSERVATIVE, I'd personally like to tell the author to STFU and CRAM IT. Clearly sides with the Establishment Republians, and HELL NO will I blindly follow the Republican Party which IMO has worked against my interests just as much as the Democrats have.

So I propose this: YOU ESTABLISHMENT RINO'S SIT DOWN, STFU AND VOTE THE WAY *WE* TELL YOU FOR A CHANGE!

Without fiscal restraint (17 TRILLION (OR MUCH, MUCH MORE) ?? THAT SHOULD BUY A LOT OF LIBERTY!), without limited government (GOVERNMENT REALLY, REALLY TAKEN APART), not killing 53 million little babies (HOW COULD GOD *POSSIBLY* BLESS AMERICA?????), with the FedGov *SPYING* on every single American and storing the data like we were all criminals that they just hadn't gotten around to arresting yet, with the FedGov circumventing the Posse Comitatas law against using the military against Americans and hiring a private army of 170,000, FegGov employees all armed to the teeth with military weapons, TANKS(!) and gear (WHILE *DESPERATELY* TRYING TO DISARM THE CITIZENRY!!) the cause of liberty is like a rose in a desert. It may still be alive but the ONLY reason it hasn't died yet is that is that the citizenry is armed and would resist. A civilian agency ordering a billion rounds (some for AR-15-weapons that they're desperately trying to take from citizens, and would but for that pesky old piece of paper (it's outdated ya know) the United States Constitution (YAY YAY!)

lol. Sorry that's all one sentence folks but it all seemed to fit together.

Sorry Derek, I, as a conservative didn't leave the R party, it left me. You mention McCain and Romney. Apparently you don't watch the news ENOUGH! If you did, you'd notice how a few months before the election a WIDE variety of 'polls' come out purportedly saying that one candidate or the other is in the lead without any mention of any other candidates. They are trying to pick our candidates for us and with a wishy-washy leadership they usually succed. Polls from people like the Washington Post, and the NYT. When your enemy starts to be concerned about who is leading your side, you can be sure he's pointing the way to who he wants for a candidate.

You say that nobody agrees with candiates on specific issues so won't vote for them. I could buy that. Who agrees on EVERYTHING, EVERYTIME?? But the problem is that we know how every single vote is going to go and the 6 or 7 R's who will vote against our principals!. It's going to go with the base wanting things one way and the leadership wanting things THEIR way. And since it's a two party system, they get it because we got nowhere to go. But further thinking leads to the inescapable fact that we don't HAVE to vote. You people need to not only count who's for you and who's against you in your polling, you need to consider who's eligible but refuses to vote for evil any longer.

That's me. I'm learning to *LOATHE* the RP and the pussies they're putting into leadership positions of not only the House and Senate, but of the committee's as well.

I'm a 2 issue candidate. Sheesh, I just found myself typing immigration!! It's infectious. My problem is the ILLEGAL ALIENS in our midst that conservatives could have been fighting a delaying action on for all of these DECADES leading up to the present disaster. Don't say that they're doing the jobs that American's won't do ... There isn't any job that Americans won't do. If they can't find people to pick a tomato crop then the employers have to find a way to offer a better wage. WE'RE NOT SLAVES DAMN YOU ALL IN WASHINGTON!!

All of this might be coming to a head in the next year or so though. Businesses are getting wise to the fact that there's NO WAY that people should be given $15 to flip burgers. And business is taking action.

I saw a video with my own eyes (saved it to my disk even) of an inventor who made a machine that will make a pizza pie for a few bucks, that takes a few mins and that human hands never touch. We don't even get the pleasure of guessing whether the employee's spit (or worse) on it to record it for youtube. Takes all the raw flour, wanter, cooks the crust, dumps the 'mater sauce and some warm meat from a hopper onto it and puts it in a box for the customer. Customer happy as a lark. Owner happy as a lark. no OSHA. No payrolls. No abusing ADA. Just a man and his machine. Italy.

But the point is if they can do this for pizza, why not spaghetts, lasagnua, hell if it can make a pizza crust why can't it make a loaf of bread or biscuits????

A Jap company has invented a robot that can work in fields of strawberry. It can tell which are ripe just by looking at them and it's right every time.

Welcome to the world of $15/hr minimum wage.

LOL. My other hot button issue is the debt/deficit but I've ran on FAR longer than anyone wants me to.

God Love yas fellow freeps,

Dean

The problem is that the GOP still believes that there is a “middle”. That somehow, there is still an undecided voter somewhere in America. Thus they move away from their base in an attempt to gather one or two more voters.

The problem is, they end up pissing off the base. Ultimately they LOSE votes because their milquetoast candidates cant rally the conservatives. Run a candidate that appeals to the base and you will have far more donations, volunteers and ultimately, votes.
