At my age, I never go out in public without my Knuckle Blaster stun gun. Although it's shaped like brass knuckles which are illegal, it is rubber coated and doesn't cause the injury brass knuckles do. Plus, since it wraps around your fingers, it's almost impossible to be taken from you. Push the safety up with your thumb and pull the trigger with your fore-finger and watch people step back from just igniting it. I've startle many people when demonstrating it.

Make sure you read the State restrictions on the site. Surprisingly, they are not illegal or restricted in California. Of course there's also pepper spray, but depending on the heat of the moment and wind, it can come around to you. Also, think hornet spray that shoots far, but in big bulky cans. The Knuckle Blaster easily fits in the pocket or purse.

Yes, I know the best defense is a handgun, but you probably don't want to use that in a simple scuffle.

Also, the Knuckle Blaster is small and comes in a holster with a loop for your belt. The holster has a velcro strap for easy access. If you prefer out of holster in pocket or purse, it's very easy to grab and the safety switch takes some pressure to dis-engage in case you have your finger on the button trigger.

I personally think this product could be used effectively and relatively quiet in a loud mob situation. There are other stun guns on the site, I prefer this one because of ease of use and being extremely difficult to wrestle away or knocked away from the owner. Of course, it you want distance, then think Tazer...but large and difficult to conceal.
