Buy hornet/wasp spray before they regulate it, too. Probably works better than the mace she wanted to purchase.

Every single one of my female friends that live alone has a can of wasp spray next to their bed.....because I bought it for them. ;)

DC banned mace/pepper spray for years, ostensibly because criminals were using it to help mug people.
Criminals, being criminals, didn’t let it’s unavailability in the District deter them, they just started using the small bottles of EZOff oven cleaner.
DC ultimately reversed the ban (although put in registration restrictions, apparantly) under the auspices that it was better to lose a wallet or purse than a wallet or purse AND eyesight.
