Yet Obama despite his vaunted pen and phone continues to allow commercial flights in and out of endemic areas of west Africa.

I suspect if you mapped their destinations they’d look terribly similar to the CDC map of quarantine centers.

A few days ago I placed a library hold on the “Hot Zone” ebook about ebola. I’ve been told it is a good book about the disease even though it is fiction. But fiction based on fact.

It’s not fiction. It’s written in a fiction-like style that makes it easy to read and hard to put down.

Chukwu reportedly said out of 70 people who had contact with Sawyer, 8 have been quarantined. He added, specifically that two of those quarantined seem to have contracted the virus Who had contact with Sawyer?....What kind of contact? Sat next to him? Used the restroom, after him? Touched his belongings/glass?

The Hot Zone is not fiction. Some of the names are changed to protect sources and if you read the first chapter, you will finish the book in a day. You can't put it down. Then you'll be out buying prepper supplies the next day.

If it’s as difficult to get as HIV, I find it compelling that they are looking for this many people.
Unless he managed to spew vomit on that many people.
And if it’s transmitted easily that way, imagine someone crashing out in Times Square. Or Madison Square Garden.

I will add: when you finish the book you will wish it was fiction!I'm about 1/4 of the way through, and I wish it was fiction. It really makes me think that the people who take care of these patients, the ones who know what they're getting into, are really heroes. My daughter is applying for an RN position in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of a very large, famous hospital. One that will be in the front lines if this breaks out. Scares the hell out of me. I was fairly knowledgeable about Ebola before I started reading this book, but somehow it has taken on a whole new sense of reality.

And there is evidence it CAN be spread without direct contact, despite the denials to that effect. Read the book.
