Russia, now, finally out from under Czarist ideology, (pendulum right), and out from under Communism (pendulum left), has finally begun a true nationalist view.
Yes, Mr. Putin was raised, educated, trained in the ways of the Soviet KGB, and is now the leader of a ‘freer’ Russia. However, he does know and understand that a solidified national outlook, with everybody on board, not just The Central Planning Committee, or The Politburo of old, would do well to unify the country.
Now, in that unification, the Crimean peninsula, historically, has belonged to Russia. The, now, seperate Ukrainian Republic, has always been “The steppes of Russia”, or, “the breadbasket of Russia”, both Czarist and Soviet, although the Ukrainian people have their own history and culture, and a slight difference in their alphabet, when compared to the Cyrillic alphabet.
I’m sure that there could be a different approach to the realization of Mr. Putin’s dreams of a greater, nationalist Russia, but he has cast the die, and has begun his program of annexation.
Of which, I do not agree. I write this, because, as you can look it up, Russia has had 2 bad masters, the Czars and The Soviet style of Communism.
(2 outs, 2 strikes, 1 ball, bases empty, bottom of the eighth, and Mr. Putin is at bat.)
