The selection of a Major General to interrogate the rat is a tip-off that he'll get off...with maybe a slap on the wrist....maybe scot free.
A two-star as an interrogation flunky shows that Bergdahl is under the personal protection of Obama...and the General and everyone else knows it.
This is a farce of the first magnitude. Anyone else deserting like this would be charged and languishing in the brig instead of being back on active duty with a cushy desk job.

Bergdahl could tell “the General” that he left his post wearing a purple tutu, gone in search of the mahdi, with no intention of ever coming back, and the military will find a way to excuse him.
