To anyone :

Did I distinctly remember hearing Obama, or his minions, say years ago that if there were problems in Iraq, we would keep people there to take care of it? Or am I confused?

Nothing will tarnish Obama’s pristine objections to Dubya’s Iraq operations.

Given that ISIS is armed with AKs or worse. This could likely turn into a massacre of anyone trying to pick up the food, unless Iraqi troops or some other ground force is supporting the refugees.

The Iraqis were begging for help and we wouldn’t give it to them. They even tried to drop water for these people but they weren’t able to reach them. And the US was refusing to support them (the Iraqis).

What happened? Who made Obama allow support for the non-Islamist side?

The “Optics” were making him look bad and dropping supplies is the one thing that gives the least amount of support. Now all those voices, even and now including, over the past day or two, Libtard ones, demanding he “do something” can be answered.

You know, I think you are right; he is going to keep them alive long enough for isis to get to them and claim their muzzie prize.

Probably. With Bambi, the optics are all.

And he can’t be accused of supporting Christians, since this tribe is an odd group that still practices a pre-Christian pagan religion, so I guess that means it’s probably easier for him to permit support for them.

That said, I wonder where the pressure came from for him to permit this. He’s a total dictator and doesn’t allow the military to do their job. This move is not consistent with his pro-Islamist policies, so who is responsible for it?

These drops will be scattered all over. The only way to ensure a pinpoint drop is to come in “slow and low” so that the target drop site is hit. Doing so would make our aircraft very vulnerable to ground fire. Without sufficient preparatory bombing and continual air support to defend these cargo planes this would be suicide.

Of course if Obama wants to drop stuff for the sake of dropping it so that the media thinks he is doing some good....
