Obama poised to extend record of executive action during congressional recess
Fox News ^ | August 9, 2014

With Congress on August recess after failing to agree on a plan to help fix the country’s pressing immigration problems, President Obama is poised to take matters in his own hands with executive actions.

Whether the president will act without Congress on immigration and other pressing issues has as emerged as a thorny political question.

Critics argue he is intent on violating the Constitution to achieve his political agenda, while supporters say he is being forced into action because of the Capitol Hill dysfunction.

Speculation that Obama will act during August recess is not unfounded.

He has issued at least eight significant executive actions during August recess in the past four years -- including two in August 2013 on gun control.

House Republicans -- who have already voted to file a lawsuit arguing the president has overstepped his authority on ObamaCare -- worry his first move this August will be to expand his 2012 executive order that defers deportation for many young immigrants already in the United States illegally.

The president has made clear he will act without Congress on the crisis at the southern U.S. border where thousands of mostly unaccompanied Central American youths are entering the country illegally.

However, the White House also appears to be sending a mixed message since Congress left town about how and when Obama will act.

“Get things done,” he told Congress last week.

News flash, 0bama. You are not in charge of the legislative branch nor are you a king.

The dysfunction is Harry Reid’s bailiwick......but the Republicans ALWAYS get blamed by Obama’s State-Run-Media!

Power goes to those who take it. If congress does nothing, it means future presidents will have vast legislative authority as well. The sorry fact is that precedent trumps the constitution.

He is a DEFACTO king - because none of the separate branches will hold him accountable for high crimes, misdemeanors and treason.

So he will do as he pleases, and there is not a damned thing we can do about it.

At least not via civil means.

Yep, and he may not use executive orders because of that, he and his lapdogs may just be making a lot of noise.

The sorry fact is that precedent trumps the constitution.

Which is why we now live in a MarxoFascist tyranny. The law is whatever the Ruling Class says it is.

The federal beast is wholly illegitimate, and until this people treat it as such, we will continue to be subjugated and eventually (as happens in all Marxist/Fascist dictatorships) - exterminated.

In some circumstances there’s much to be said for uncivil.

Riight...we'll pass that along to Speaker Boehner, as soon as he wakes up from his nap on the Capitol grounds.

It means a force to oppose the executive tyrant is needed.

The Framers provided one in a senate of the states. Our popularly derived, democratic congress has demonstrated it will never again stand up to executive tyranny.

Since congress will not reform itself, an Article V convention of the states is our last hope to take back the powers that have swirled into the executive.

In addition to the immigration issue, Obama could also take action to stop U.S. companies from establishing overseas headquarters to avoid federal taxes -- a situation that Congress also has not resolved legislatively.

Leaders of the Democrat-controlled Senate suggest they will have a proposed fix in September but are asking Obama to take action now to stop the corporate tax dodge -- known as “inversion.”

Also from the article, seconding the news flash.

Eaton Corp. just moved their headquarters to Ireland, where they recently acquired another smaller corporation. They are a global corporation, until now based in Cleveland Ohio. Nothing has changed or will change, no jobs lost here, etc., except that their "official" headquarters will now be in Ireland. IMHO, that's not a "tax dodge", that's a smart business decision that keeps more Americans employed. Businesses are not charitable organizations!

Also, the disfunction is entirely Harry Reid's bailiwick, but it's not disfunction, it's malicious and willful "aiding and abetting" of the 0bama agenda, with the help of a complicit media.

The worst thing is, how things get done under the radar when more pressing issues are taking the headlines.

That said, I am glad we put a few air strikes on ISIS (or "ISIL", as the administration insists on calling them...must the JV unit they mean?) and brought water and food to the Iraqis and Kurds stranded on that mountain.

All else I can say is...check the "wrong direction" polls. Even the MSM has had to sort of report on that. A GOP Senate takeover this Fall seems crucial if the USA is survive the last two years of 0bama's "hope and change" agenda in any recognizable form...

Well said...Obama and this administration have been very active in picking winners and losers and showering taxpayer funds on their idea of winners.

Many, many companies they’ve picked were nothing but scams after those free taxpayer dollars and in most cases these scammers supported 0bama and his Rats with fat campaign donations.

Then when legitimate companies take advantage of legitimate tax laws the turkey in the WH and his lapdog leftists scream bloody murder.

The buck stops HERE, with US. Should he be brave enough, ignorant enough to attempt this, what do WTP do about it? Ignore the SOB? Ridicule the child? And the punishment dealt out by US? Perhaps this is his plan, the pitchforks and torches bring out the martial law....no further explanation needed. Remember Patrick Henry, ‘Give me liberty or give me death’ The time looks to be fast approaching the tipping point.

Since congress will not reform itself, an Article V convention of the states is our last hope to take back the powers that have swirled into the executive.

You keep saying this - and it's a NON-STARTER when you are dealing with an entrenched tyrant and his tyranny.

If they will not follow the Constitution NOW, if they IGNORE the Constitution and the Separation of Powers NOW - and commit unconstitutional acts and make laws contrary to the Constitution - WHAT IS GOING TO STOP THEM FROM DOING THE SAME THING TO ANY AMENDMENT ADDED TO THE CONSTITUTION??????????????????????

Nothing.

You are striving for wind if you think and Amendment V process is going to stop this tyranny.

It won't. Amendments will not even be allowed to take effect. They will be struck down one after another by an activist judiciary (homo marriage bans anyone?) - and then what do you plan to do? Are we really this blind to where we have arrived and what is the current situation??

There IS NO CIVIL MEANS that can be employed to stand up to this tyranny. NONE. A lawless regime is not swayed or subject to laws it decides are not applicable to itself.

We are at the stage of the necessity to refuse our assent to their tyranny. We must defy, refuse to comply with the entire Federal Behemoth.

We are at the stage where it is necessary to dissolve the political bands and alter and abolish this current federal behemoth that has become destructive to Life, Liberty and our Pursuits of happiness as the Government implements the designs to reduce us under absolute despotism. They will then act to force compliance AND THEN, we will have to apply force to defend ourselves. Same as our Forbears did, and for similar reasons.

His Royal Highness apparently doesn’t think much of the constitution.

Or the American people, either, for that matter.

Tell me how your revolution will work.

If point A is revolt, where you and your buddies storm the White House, tell me the intervening events between A and Z, with Z being the restoration of freedom.

Thanks for the info. I mentioned on a couple of other threads over the past few days that I heard on FNC last Thursday or Friday that Obama was going to return to the WH on August 17 for 2 days of meetings and then return to MV.
They surmised that is when he might sign an EO on immigration. I said he might do a two-fer and also do one on corporate taxes.

I already answered you on that exact same question.

You ignored it.

If your faith is in Amendment V to save us from tyranny - you do not understand where we are or what we are dealing with. You have no plan on how to deal with implementing any Amendments that restrains the oligarchy if they are ever ratified.

The lawless do not submit to laws outside of themselves. A fact you are ignoring.
