Of course they have their roots in Africa...just because the Africans coming here don’t like other blacks doesn’t make their roots any less significant...they themselves consistently acknowledge their African roots and proud of it. They aren’t calling themselves “African-American” for nothing.
There is nothing “African” left in them; they don’t speak African languages, hold African values or customs, practice religions as in Africa (with their political churches here), etc.
I think this lack of any connection to anywhere else is a large part of the problem.
