I don't BELIEVE that he added a caveat for liberals, but I don't know my "Lincoln quotes" as well as I might.

He was right.
Human nature is essentially animalistic, but with the ‘knowledge of good and evil’ capable of deciding upon the actions.
An animal has no evil in it’s nature, it reacts without thinking of the consequences, for its own survival and the survival of its kind.
Humans can choose, whereas animals are like programmed robots than react to situations according to their programming................
